GOP Voter Apathy Cost Romney: Would have won with McCain's vote total

4. With overall voter turnout down, shockingly Romney got 2 million less votes than McCain! If Romney got as many votes as McCain, 59.6 million, he could have won.

The story of this election is voter turnout!

As per a June 21st UPI poll, ten percent of Republicans indicated they would not vote for a Mormon. Romney only lost by 1% of the vote. Do the math.

And the Jews would never have voted for a Samaritan. But Jesus specifically chose a Samaritan to show that good could be done by anyone and it would be acceptable to Him.

Modern day evangelicals are surprisingly similar to the ancient Jews as described by the New Testament.

I guess that “Massachusetts Moderate” thing didn’t sell.

It didn't even sell in Massachusetts. Romney lost 61-37 there.

If the GOP doesn't learn the lesson now, they never will. Going Moderate pulled ZERO votes from the Dems, even in Romney's OWN STATE... but it did keep millions of Republicans at home yesterday all over the US. If it can't work in your candidate's back yard, where exactly do they expect it to work?

Something really weird happened after Romney grabbed the Ohio lead last night. I am sick and tired of the lying an corruption.

That was the point ~ we didn't capitalize on Obama's incredible unpopularity ~ Mitt was polite to this loser ~ which he shouldn't have been ~ not if he wanted to get elected himself.

Obama got 10 mil more than McCain in 2008. He lost that 10 mil in 2012.

As I said, Sarah Palin, whether she's hated by the Democrats or not, should take notice of that ~ she got more votes for VP than Obama got for President this year!!!

Hate is good eh!

This stat just doesn’t seem real or even possible. I have to wonder if fraud or suppression of military votes or something similar can account for this. Is it because 2 million elderly voters died or become otherwise unable to vote? You are right that this is a huge story. I would like to find out the answer.

Well, at least it will come down while I’m still spry enough to do slightly more than my share of damage on the way to the graveyard. =^/

I just can’t wait for 2016 when the establishment GOP rolls out their next moderate candidate who’s turn it is to run.

Since Reagan, it has been one establishment GOP moderate after another. They either lose or are a disaster. How’s that “reach across the isle” crap working out for you RINOs?

Even the incumbent RINO GOP House Rep here lost. He was accused in ads of being “Tea Party” so he quickly rolled out a denial of the Tea Party and then spewed his list of liberal stances; gun-grabbing, pro-abortion, amnesty, etc. He probably lost the conservatives in the last week of the campaign.

lifespan differences have always been a problem for Democrats. They die younger than Republicans. in any given 4 year period there'll be a 5% or more loss of voters just because they died!

Parties need strong new voter outreach programs going constantly. Republicans appear to have been lax.

Yeah, they’ll have counties in Ohio that have 149% of the registered voters voting.

I don’t get Florida at all. Not at all.

Florida is easy to explain. The answer is New Yorkers. in the last 12 years over 338,000 New Yorkers moved to Florida. As we all know when yankees move because the sh!t where they ate one too many times, they keep the same attitudes that ruined the place they moved from. SO If half of them voted, and they followed the same voting patterns of their fellow liberals still in the anus on the Hudson 62.7% of them voted for 0bama (BTW this is the statewide average not the nyc average). then 338,000x.5x.627 = 105,962 of 0bama's Florida votes were from New Yorkers.

New Yorkers are like plague carrying rats. They spread the filth and disease of liberalism wherever they go. I despise New Yorkers because of what they're doing to the USA.

Precisely what we feared when Romney was the nominee, they stayed home in droves.

Right. EACH AND EVERY candidate had some aspect that made him unacceptable to some segment of the Republican primary electorate. By default, we got Romney.

So the ones who wanted a perfect candidate stayed home.

You think this will make the GOP-e get behind a more conservative candidate next time? get it through your head -- the GOP-e is FINE with not having the presidency. Having the presidency would make them accountable. They don't want that. They WANT to be in the minority, so they can have all the perks of elected office, but no responsibility.

Sorry to say this, but Republicans who did not show up to vote have to shoulder some of the blame of Obama getting re-elected.

Your thinking is just plain wrong.

Expecting brand loyalty is precisely what got you here.

Try offering a product that people WANT. See how that goes.

If you advertise as a candy store, but sell nothing but toilet plungers, how could you possibly be mad at your clientele for not buying? How can you be pissed if they go looking for candy somewhere else?

That's what is wrong with trying to get folks to vote against the other guy.

You need to give them someone to vote *FOR*.

All Christian churches agree that Mormonism is not Christian, but the exit polls will reveal that Evangelicals voted overwhelmingly, massively FOR the Mormon, and that Catholics voted AGAINST the Mormon.

Very well said. Probably the capitulation-conservatives will decide that a few more insults, more browbeating and threats, and their empty suit would have won.

Romney lost Florida by 25,000 votes.

Unimaginable.

At least 25K illegals in Florida voted for The Won.
