I am stunned that I was stunned by the election.
I am a fool. I convinced myself that the polls were not real. I convinced myself that the world I see around me every day is not real. I hoped for a redemptive moment without seeing any penitence. You can't have one without the other.
I, along with countless others, have been trying to figure out how President Obama managed to win a second term.
Trying to discover the key statistic that would explain the defeat has become a cottage industry over the past week. Every pundit on every side has a theory, women, minorities, Hispanics, voter turnout machines, etc. All wrong. But I figured it out.
I have been trying to figure out what the problem is all week, and then I finally did. The problem is you.
You, you Catholics. You are the problem...
(Excerpt) Read more at ncregister.com ...
Many Catholics have self-excommunicated themselves and have been turned over to a reprobate mind as St. Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans in Chapter 1. They are now gone.
Let’s correct this:
YOU Catholics in name only are A problem. The overall problem is even BIGGER than that. It is a SPIRITUAL battle.
However, for Catholics, we can easily see the wisdom of the focus on evangelization (for those in the pews first) for the Year of Faith...and why wise Papa Benedict is including an informed PUBLIC profession of faith from all of us within the Year of Faith.
Nothing to see here. Move along....
Catholics need to be told that envy, jealousy and coveting other people’s wealth are all sins. Obama’s commandment is that we must covet the wealth of anybody who makes $250,00 year and not a peep from pastors. Not just Catholics by the way.
There is nothing moral about the destructive larcenous welfare state.
The first sign that they "get" this is when they drive out the sleazeballs who cover up and condone abuses within the Church and force out false Catholics, like Sibelius, Biden, Cuomo, and Pelosi.
The Church must stand firm against garbage or they will fall by the wayside. Vestments and pomposity won't hack it: ferocious defense of Christian values will win.
I do have some encouraging news: I attended Mass yesterday at the Cathederal of Our Lady of the Angeles in downtown Los Angeles. Msgr. Kevin Kostelnick, the pastor of the Cathederal, did say this much about the election: Without mentioning Obama or Romney by name, or mentioning Democrats or Republicans. He DID say this: 90% of the candidates and issues I voted for last Tuesday LOST. I could only interpret that statement one way: he’s one of the good guys!
