America recover? God only knows, but I do not expect it in my lifetime.
Remember, Central Europe was under the Communist thumb, but they have recovered.
If I had to leave here for some unknown reason, I would go back to Slovakia.
As for the others on here, some may be jealous but it does not bother me. As I said...I feel their pain.

Their is a very small group of us that made a small sitting garden above the beach. We gather there for some Sam Miguel at 4 PM each day.
There is my landlady’s husband from PA, and a fairly recent expat from Cape Cod. Others come by from time to time.
The three of us are married to Philippine wives.
One other word of caution...This is a third world country. Some people can not adapt, but most can.
I had a Swedish friend here. He had married a local girl, but he could not accept the culture.
They both moved first to Malaysia. That was no good, so they then moved to the Canary Islands. They seem to be happy there, and she received automatic Spanish citizenship due to Spain having ruled the Philippines for so long.
I think the Europeans outnumber us Americans here.
You are right of course, some can not adapt. I know I can. I have been married to a Filipina before, and I have been to to the Philippines many times. Every time I go to the Philippines, I do not want to come back to the states, as you know, I was in the Philippines last week. You are right, I met more Europeans than Americans there, but in 10 days, I met a bunch of them. It seems Cebu and Davao are over run with Americans and Europeans. I am sad for my country, it is only a shell of what it was in the past, and will not recover in my lifetime, though I sincerely hope it will, after I have gone to my eternal reward.
