Examiner ^ | March 16, 2013 | David Codrea

Posted on 03/16/2013 12:58:57 PM PDT by Travis McGee

The sighting of a Department of Homeland Security Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) at a gas station near Ybor City, Fla. on Wednesday is raising questions, concerns and fears about what the federal government is foreseeing in terms of likely needs for such armed and armored transports.

“How about “Running wolf” does he sound credible to you, more or less credible than “Modern Survival blog”?”

Nice try FUDrucker (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt), buy we know these exist for DHS as PEOPLE HAVE SEEN THEM AND TAKEN PICTURES OF THEM AND DHS EVEN eSHOWED THEM OFF.

Sorry, but pinheads like you always trying to create FUD against such reports tell me there are people in this country that would let this crap happen.

Shut them down? Easy: Starve them of gas and the people inside that drive them.

asnsel is always the FUDrucker. You could run her over with one and she would claim it still didn’t exist.

We know that DHS owns MRAPs, but do they own 16 of them, or almost 3,000?

Why don't they give an accounting, and show their locations, numbers and missions?

When the USMC originally purchased them, they didn't skulk around in the dark, hiding them and playing shell games.

And they didn't paint them scary SS black, either.

Man this is weird, did you see post 30 and 61, of corse between 11 and 16 of them exist, they are out in public and can be photographed, they drive and get transported.

The question isn’t does DHS have 11 MRAPs as post 74 says, or 16 of them as some sources say, but 2700 of them as the rumors claim and the article implies and which documents indicate are actually for the Marine Corps.

“”No wonder speculation is running at fever pitch in some circles, and that leads to wild speculation, which may or may not end up being wild enough. The problem is, with the lack of transparency, oversight and reporting, such speculation, when disputed, can, is and will be used to try to discredit (and ridicule) any who express related concerns, and one that is being so dismissed is a report that DHS has purchased “2,700 light-armored tanks.”

“The vehicles in question aren’t tanks and they aren’t for DHS,” “Running Wolf” blogger Michael Malone counters, along with a link to the procurement contract summary for 2,717 units by the United States Marine Corps. “[U]ntil someone shows me a procurement order for DHS, I don’t buy it.””

Troll? so far the contract says Marines not DHS, and you don’t need to start calling names anyway, my questions are valid and reasonable.

Why do things like this always have to be like a forest fire of red hot passion and wide eyed belief, without any examination?

Did you read the article and it’s feeding the rumors of 2717 MRAPs that “may not end up being wild enough”?

The Department of Homeland Security is not the Defense Department. If MRAPs were bought for the military, it’s a different order than the one from Homeland Security. See, it’s:
Department of Homeland Security (for the homeland) Department of Defense (military operations in other lands) TWO DIFFERENT BUDGETS - LIKE TWO DIFFERENT BANK ACCOUNTS

Right, and as post 34 shows, right now the evidence is that the Marine Corps bought 2717 MRAPs, not the DHS.

I had no idea so I looked it up. Wikipedia says that Jagger wrote the lyrics (good guess) and Keith Richards wrote the music. It also says the Bill Wyman claims in his book that it was a group effort.

The WHO was always my favorite Brit Invasion band but in my old age I have to drop my bias and admit that the Stones put out some songs with brilliant poignancy that will live on for a very long time. Paint It Black is one of them.

I wonder if those young Brit rockers had any idea how well it would fit the times? It sure struck a resounding chord in America in 1966.

We have tons of conservative reporters and media that could do the reporting.

That is what my original post was about, post 18.

“Surely some reporter can just look into this and write a simple article clarifying the facts.
Why do we keep seeing the same speculation and rumors repeated endlessly rather than just a simple factual article, how old is this story by now?
How about “Running wolf” does he sound credible to you, more or less credible than “Modern Survival blog”?”

According to my Congress critter, who is on the committee that oversees Homeland security, they own exactly 11. As of yesterday. His rep. says that they have inquired about Surplus unit coming back for the Mid east, but as of now that's all they own.

Who is your congressman, and what is your source?

Why do things like this always have to be like a forest fire of red hot passion and wide eyed belief, without any examination?

Because the government refuses to disclose anything and the MSM refuses to investigate anything. The only reason speculation is rampant is because of their complete lack of transparency. The logical conclusion is that they are intentionally feeding the speculation. Troll.

Not if they also shut down the internet. Most on the right have no way to contact others in the country unless it is via the net. They know that and would, therefore, restrict access to only military and DC elitists. At least, that would be my bet.

See post 91, and if there is no reporting, then how can you be so hysterical and lashing out at freepers without even knowing if they have 2700 MRAPS, or if this is nothing at all?

If the FedMob shuts down the internets the reaction from ‘the right’ will be the least of their worries.

That's the slow way.
I want to fry the electronics and kill the vehicle immediately. EMP is the only way I know to do it, and if the vehicle is shielded, it becomes harder to do.

Well you would have to assume (bad idea usually, but in this case...) that the first thing they would do is shut down the internet and even cell phone communications so that most Americans would be unable to find out what they were doing and would stay ‘in the dark’ about what was going on in the rest of the nation. And the Obama lamestream media would be rattling along as if nothing was amiss, no doubt, with nary a ‘discouraging word’ being reported.

What bothers me most is....those of us on the right would have no way to get in contact with other like-minded conservatives to even attempt to fight such a move, should nation-wide martial law ever be declared. We would literally have to have the phone numbers, landline phone numbers, for anyone in a position to fight the takeover. And that isn’t going to happen, since most folks have given up their landlines for cell communications now.

Perhaps some communications networks should be established now, while still possible? Or am I just uninformed enough to not know that they already have been...lol. Hope so.
