Hillsboro Officer Megan Hewitt was on a traffic stop on Northwest 185th Avenue when she heard a dog cry out.
She looked toward the sound and saw an SUV headed down the roadway and a black German Shepherd running. The officer suspected the dog may have been struck. Hewitt, who had pulled a motorist over near Northwest Heritage Parkway, told the driver she needed to deal with the dog.

Could have been worse “Cop shoots crying dog with replica gun”.
Sorry, I know there are good cops but the Keystone Kops are taking center stage lately.
What! She didn’t shoot the dog ... this story will disappoint many anti cop people on FR.
Contrary to what you posted, there isn’t a single Freeper who is anti-cop. There are a LARGE number of Freepers who are anti-jack-booted-thug though.
Many of us have had...shall we say “unpleasant” dealings with the constabulary, and are somewhat reticent about giving THEM the benefit of the doubt when THEY by their own words consider everyone NOT wearing THEIR uniform a SUSPECT, as opposed to their legitimate role as PEACE OFFICER.
The police have elevated themselves (with the co-operation of the MSM: name ONE top rated TV show where the “heroes” are NOT public servants) to a “higher” role in society, even though they are no more than fellow citizens entrusted with upholding the law.
When is the last time you saw several hundred uniformed officers at the funeral of ANY war veteran? On or off-duty?
Yet many cities and towns will reduce the policing on the street for the funeral of a police officer, and to add insult to injury, the professional mourners GET PAID?!?!
As Sarah Conner said, “There’s a storm coming...”
I got so wrapped up in my annoyance with a certain comment that I neglected to commend THIS officer for showing compassion and humanity.
She did a good thing, and I hope she continues to be the good cop she showed herself to be with this action.
You speak for me. Thanks.
Reposted in full as I agree!

Another good and appropriate post.
Well said.
By the way, here (http://www.photographyisnotacrime.com/2013/03/24/nebraska-police-chase-down-man-video-recording-their-abuse-while-second-man-video-records-it-all/) is a PERFECT example of why many FReepers might seem to be “anti-police”.
If you consider this normal behaviour, there is scant hope for the Republic.
Officer Hewitt did the right thing.
