Texas Prosecutor And Wife Slain At Their Home
Friends of Ours ^ | 03/31/13 | Friends of Ours

Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia Woodward McLelland were shot to death in their home last night as reported by The Dallas Morning News:

"A law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity described the scene at the McLellands' home as an awful scene where the door appeared to have been kicked in. 'There are shell casings everywhere,' the official said. 'This is unprecedented. This is unbelievable. This is huge.'"

Last month Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was gunned down outside the local courthouse by two men in tactical gear who remain at large, and authorities fear the murders may be connected to a retaliatory plot by Mexican cartels.

The drug cartels freelance their retail distribution and enforcement work to local street and prison gangs across the United States, and have recently been targeting both Mexican and U.S. law enforcement officials for assassination.

Last week the Texas Department of Public Safety released a report identifiying the Mexican drug cartels as the greatest threat to the Lone Star State as reported by KWTX: "six cartels have command and control networks in the state, moving drugs and people into the United States, and transporting cash, weapons and stolen vehicles back to Mexico." Former Texas Ranger Mark Leger says "Mexican drug cartels are a real and present threat to Central Texas," and "sometimes, the general public doesn't have any idea that there are gangs operating in their cities and towns."

Meanwhile, the Obama admininistation naively -- or is it cynically? -- continues to insist that the border is secure, there is no evidence of drug-related spillover violence, and American citizens have no need to own semi-automatic rifles and standard-capacity magazines for personal protection.

The article in the Ft Worth paper completely avoided any reference to Mexican drug cartels.

Indeed, and that wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

Here in Europe, the GC cooperates with the ‘Ndrangheta - the Calabrian mafia - to supply narcotics to the former Soviet Bloc, where demand is now rising.

Meth is becoming a big problem here as well.

Good thing the Men and Women from WWII, on our side, did not think this way. Shutter to think.

Sometimes, you have to look at what your opponent is NOT talking about. Obama is very vocal about every liberal issue except for legalizing drugs. Why? California elects every liberal who runs for office, but they don’t legalize drugs? Why?

People are asleep. It will continue to get worse until people wake up and clean out Washington.

A real president would have gone to war with the drug cartels by now.

This legal/illegal debate about drugs is a sham. It’s all about money. It’s part of the YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY INDUSTRY.

“Look at those rich people! They have more than you! Does that make you depressed? You should be happy! We can help!”

“Look at these poor people! Isn’t it awful? Does that make you depressed? You should be happy! We can help!”

“Look at all this trouble in the world! Does that make you depressed? You should be happy! We can help!”

“Look at all these perfect people! You’ll never be perfect. Does that make you depressed? You should be happy! We can help!”

“Just buy some drugs from us, and we’ll both be happy! You can escape reality for a few minutes, and I’ll be richer.”

A large portion of our population have become slugs, and they vote.

Better yet. What would Regan do. Think Panama and Grenada. Probably drop a few hundred Marines in their midst.

Since the media is not reporting, may have to look at post #64 for possible reason. Our lame-stream drive bys are full of cowards (imho).

Forty four years ago it was pointed out that more people die of knives in Mexico than guns in the USA. The editor retorted that it was because of the culture of MACHO, which the US did not have.

Well, it’s here.

I honestly don’t know what Truman would do.

This is largely a problem of the Mexican authorities. Compounding that problem is the fact that the various cartels are currently making an thirty to fifty billion dollars a year, and that’s with them warring between themselves for control of trafficking routes into the US.

Obviously, whichever cartel is the last man standing stands to gain an extremely lucrative business operation. Thirty to fifty billion per annum is nothing to sneeze at.

That money is also corrupting the authorities in Mexico, an additional headache for anyone trying to deal with it. Look at the Los Zetas - they’re Mexican Army deserters who clearly got tired of their low pay and decided to go where the REAL money is......drugs.

Let’s say that the Mexican authorities finally succeed in eliminating all the cartels; that’s up to fifty billion a year no longer circulating in their economy. So they themselves have a reason to crack down - the horrific violence - but not crack down TOO hard - lost revenue for their economy.

Money, like power, tends to corrupt. And easy money corrupts absolutely.

They tried to pin Hasse on the Nazis. Even executed the guy they blamed.

An execution a month or so after the crime? That's got to be some kind of record. Even in Texas, we can't manage such swift justice.

They were all probably shot with guns the regime provided to them. I would love to follow the trail of drug money to see where it goes.

More people die of knives than long guns here in the USA.
