The Facade of Islamophobia

A few days ago I received a letter from a friend of mine who happens to be a muslim whom resides in Britain. We often engage in mutually respectful conversation, each presenting our views and thoughts on various policies in our own nations and each others. The tone and nature usually resembles that of two colleagues, as opposed to, two adversaries.

In his most recent letter to me, it began with this quoted text:

“According to British writer and lecturer, Karen Armstrong, the west is deeply Islamophobic and the Islamophobia is the result of a long process of prejudice, dating back to the Crusades. The recent events have strengthened the prejudiced belief that “Islam is the religion of the sword”. Islamophobia can manifest itself directly in verbal or physical attacks on Muslims but also indirectly in negative images of Muslims presented by the media. Islamophobia was worsened by anti-Islamic policies, publications and activities in Europe and the US. Islamophobia is not only a cause of discrimination against Muslims but also an open threat to world peace. The western media and intellectuals play a significant role in spreading Islamophobia. Hate-mongers have come out of the woodwork in full force. Now, not a day passes without the newspapers, magazines, radio and TV talk shows, Hollywood movies, computer games and even children’s cartoons and the myriad of internet websites and chat rooms, attacking Islam and Muslims. Muslim communities in the western world and its so-called leaders have taken the Ostrich-approach. They have buried their heads in the sand hoping the problems would go away. It is not going to go away. The neck of the Ostrich will be cut. Entire Muslim communities living in the west are under attack. According to a survey, 70% of Americans do not want to see (...)

“Prejudice” and “dating back” is a contradiction in terms.

Well, if they don’t like the west, they can always move east.

Islamophobia can manifest itself directly in verbal or physical attacks on Muslims but also indirectly in negative images of Muslims presented by the media.

Replace "Islamophobia" with "antisemitism" and "Muslim" with "Jew" and you have a perfect description of Islam (and "media" being the muslim media). So are the Muslims guilty of Semitephobia or are they just filled with hate?

Oh, and if Muslims don’t like being “attacked” and “vilified” in the media, maybe they should stop trying behead people and blow things up. You know, stop all their terrorism crap! Until then, keep hitting them, the harder the better.

Sorry, but this seems to me to be muddled writing about muddled thinking.

If the author’s point is that Muslims have wierd ideas about the source of Western “islamophobia,” that seems to me a fact so obvious and so well documented as to be not really worth any further effort.

They go out of their way to threaten, belittle, and attack us - killing us by the thousands for reasons that make no sense under the Western concept of the Creator - and then try to make the case that Westerners don’t like them because we are “prejudiced.”

One man’s prejudice is another man’s generalization is another man’s knowledge.

“Islamophobia” came from the same liberal word-factory that brought us “gay marriage” and “assault rifle”. Does an exterminator have arachnophobia?

According to British writer and lecturer, Karen Armstrong, the west is deeply Islamophobic and the Islamophobia is the result of a long process of prejudice, dating back to the Crusades

A quote from an 1899 book by Winston Churchill, "The River War", in which he describes Muslims he apparently observed during Kitchener's campaign in the Sudan

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property - either as a child, a wife, or a concubine - must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science - the science against which it had vainly struggled - the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome. “

Indeed.
Just like one of my University professors used to loudly declare: There is no such thing as a terrorist. There are only freedom fighters.

My response to that was that I would put that statement right up there with “Ownership is theft”.

It would be crazy to not be Islamophobic (homophobic too for that matter).

Everything I needed to know, and fear, about islam happened on 9/11. They can all go pound sand up their butts as far as I’m concerned.

The “homophobic” part I will have to respectfully disagree on, at least as far as the fact that a couple of my oldest and most loyal friends happen to identify as gay—as in the type of friends who are there for you, no questions asked. Whatever my opinions on their orientation might be, I can’t hold it against them. Not every gay person represents the community “agenda” any more than every black person represents Louis Farrakhan.

Karen Armstrong is a former nun. She is also a leftist tool.

I lived in Turkey 1.5 years. You are right about there being many good Muslims; but liberals beware: they have a very different religion. Read the Koran and you’ll be shocked at the many cruel directives of Mohammed; the opposite of Jesus’: go the extra mile, turn the other cheek, go into all the world preaching. They are sent to infiltrate, lie and befriend; to subvert and take over. Nostradamus called Muslims “the incorrigible barbarians”. Islam is a demonic cult; their very cunning insanity is very difficult to cure.
