Wyoming Republican Sen. Mike Enzi may be gearing up to run for re-election in 2014, but that doesn’t mean Liz Cheney is ruling out a run for the Senate seat now.

Over the weekend, The Casper Star Tribune reported that Enzi told a meeting of the GOP state party committee that he is looking forward to running for re-election — something he has yet to formally announce.
“Senator Enzi’s statement to the central committee stands on its own,” Enzi press secretary Daniel Head told TheDC on Monday. “He won’t make an official announcement until later. If that changes, we’ll let you know.”
For months, there has been speculation in the media that Cheney would run for the Wyoming seat, especially if Enzi retired.
Cheney, a lawyer who has served in various positions in government, has not commented publicly about whether she’s eying the seat. But her activities seem to signal that she could be interested in a run of some sort: She recently moved to Jackson Hole, Wyo., with her family. She has also been giving speeches at various events in the state.
Her father represented Wyoming in Congress from 1979 to 1989.

I have mixed feeling on the central theme of the article.
I'm not opposed to tossing out what you might call a mediocre incumbent mostly for the hell of it, no one is entitled to reelection, I agree. But nor would I do it by default.
His sale tax apostasy is a big negative with him (Enzi). But again it's about the only thing anyone can come up with. The New York Times saying he "worked well with Ted Kennedy" is a not a reason to me. Nor is his shying away from the limelight, not everyone is cut out for it and not every legislator needs to be in it. Backbenchers have their place.
I'm fine with trying for an "upgrade" here (though it would be way down on the list, Lamar Alexander, Linseed Graham, Thad Cochran and John Cornyn are incumbents I'd be more motivated to target) but as said I think Cheney's girl is a lateral move at best. I flat out don't trust the family with their embrace of faggotry and Papa Cheney's role in the RINO administrations of Ford and W. Bush.
Billyboy postulates all this hub bub is just a pro-Cheney rather than an anti-Enzi push and I kind of get that sense as well. If it's Cheney V. Enzi I'm strongly inclined to come down on the side of Enzi.
Liz could certainly win, imo.
