Obviously Zimmerman was the aggressor. He swung at Martin and missed by a mile. That is why Martin has no injuries aside from the gunshot. Zimmerman tripped over his feet and fell face first into the ground breaking his own nose. Martin was laughing so hard that he did not realize his knuckles were scraping the ground. Zimmerman angrily tried to get up but was so angry and uncoordinated that he fell backwards and smashed his head against the ground. Martin kept laughing and Zimmerman kept falling back on the ground creating multiple lacerations on his head. Zimmerman angrily shot Martin. The screams on the tape were Martin’s but it was hysterical laughter.

My English instructor colleagues rail about Wikipedia and I know it is not acceptable as a source for a formal paper, but I often use it as a quick reference. I read the article you cited and it is very accurate in stating that the term "race" has no biological basis when applied to humans, all of whom belong to the same species.
To generalize from your point, FReeper nathanbedford offers the maxim that in America, all politics are not local, but rather, all politics are racial.

Classification is very arbitrary. I still remember in studying nematodes that we would cut the tails off, smash them on a slide and then look for certain patterns.

The evidence of assault by TM is important, but from GZ’s statements, fear of major injury or death from beating was not why he did shot TM. While TM was straddling and beating GZ, GZ’s shirt pulled up, revealing GZ’s holstered, legally-carried, pistol. When TM tried to grab it (and allegedly said “you are going to die”), GZ had clear reason to fear for his life, got to the gun first, and fired to defend himself. To the best of my knowledge, there are no witnesses whatsoever to this except GZ, and this scenario fits the forensic evidence. Unless the jury concludes GZ made it up, they have no basis to convict.
A wild card is the State’s “last moment” witness, a previously undisclosed medical examiner. The State’s last “experts” revealed a shameless attempt to bias the jury with falsehoods. With no opportunity to depose this witness, the Defense is not well-prepared to refute whatever he may claim (e.g., “...secret CIA assassin GZ profiled and shot TM with a Carcano carbine from the grassy knoll”).

Is this “last moment” witness just a hypothetical? I hadn’t heard of such a witness.
There has been internet discussion over the last two weeks that the State has added to its witness list another “Medical Examiner” (not the one previously known who wrote the report released in discovery). Supposedly, the Defense has had problems getting a depo (being in court themselves constantly probably doesn’t help). I have been trying to find where I saw this (probably within a long Conservative Treehouse thread), but so far no success. I will keep looking and lu know if found. Whether this ultimately is an ambush witness or something blown out of proportion, I don’t know, but it sounds like trouble.
Now the State has released another Supplemental Discovery, listing some beginner law books that GZ must have owned. Presumably they want to argue that he researched how to get away with murder. No reason a neighborhood watch person or concealed carry permit holder might want a better understanding of the law ...
What exactly is the prosecution’s take on this case? I know they charged him with 2nd degree murder in some sissified soulless political move, but are they gonna argue Zimmerman just confronted and shot Martin?
But where is the Hispanic community? Why aren’t they outraged?
