It’s obvious to me that the Vikings “discovered” North America, but they got their asses kicked by the local indigenous tribes and an ice age.

Fast forward in history 500 years, and Europeans are showing up on the same shores with superior ships again, but this time around they had gunpowder. That was the difference.
