Humanity’s Cancer

There is a cancer in the American body politic. It is looking likely that only radical surgery can save the patient.

Cancerous cells have three common mutations that make them fatal. First, they have to avoid being killed (apoptosis is the process where abnormal cells are destroyed). Next, the cells must have a means to grow unregulated. Finally, cancerous cells must spread throughout the body.

How Cancer Works - a book on understanding the mechanics of cancer

The political cancer called socialism works in the same three phases. In America, our Constitution of limited and enumerated powers was the primary apoptosis mechanism, designed to keep government from doing the nasty things other governments had done in the past, including panem et circenses. This Constitutional immune system was compromised through a series of treasonous  Supreme Court decisions that devolved the United States into a mere democracy, through which corrupt practices could flourish. This included basic and unsustainable giveaways for which we are now at least $87 trillion dollars in the hole (though the figure may be as large as $222 trillion).

The second mechanism is to encourage cancer by feeding it what every cell needs to fuel its uncontrolled growth. In the human body, controlling angiogenesis – the growth of blood vessels – supplying cancer cells is one approach. In the body politic, money feeds the cancer and grows more of the insider criminal class and indolent consumer cells. Cutting off money to politicians is ineffective medicine, but cutting off their authority to spend is a good surgical technique.

Cancer cells form in one location, and thus isolated might be harmless. But once they break free and travel to vital organs, the patient dies. In our ailing Uncle Sam, this malignancy has metastasized by the creation of tax payer fed organizations that use the money to further the power of government to give away even more money. This creates a closed-loop system that drains the remaining life force from the patient, launching it toward the morgue of fallen societies.

But the patient isn’t dead yet.

Like all cancers it can be licked if caught early, subjected to brutally invasive surgery and flushed with specific toxins. Uncle Sam’s surgery involves removing the tumors – both in government but also from the surrounding tissue called society. It requires interfering in all possible ways with the flow of money – chocking off the source and blocking all corrupted feeding arteries. In the final push, it requires injecting toxic substances into the cancerous cells that feed on taxpayers until those scattered cells shrivel and die.

The real question then is how? The cancer has spread, so the only way to remove it all is for everyone to take their own actions, starving, excising and poisoning the tumors around them.

Great thread. Great analogy comparing the current condition of the US to cancer.

Based on the facts here, one thing is clear. The patient (USA) has Stage 4 inoperable cancer. Hospice has been called in and we are on life support.

But - have no fear. Dr. Obama has the magic cure.

Obamacare.

Socialism is dead. It died with Soviet Russia, Communist China, etc. It is failing once again in Venezuela.

What we have to contend with is something more insidious: neoliberalism.

Neoliberals believe that countries can maintain a vibrant capitalist economy while at the same time heaping tons of taxes and regulations on the capitalists to fund their welfare programs. Neoliberals don't want to own the means of production, they just want to pretty much dictate everything that owners can do with the means of production.

In a way it is a lazy man's version of socialism. As a neoliberal you don't actually have to run a profit making company. You just have to tell those evil capitalists how to do their job.

Even dyed in the wool socialists hate neoliberals, but despite being loathed by both the left and the right they are the ones that essentially run the world, or at least the western part of it.

Supposedly now there are only two choices for viable governments: quasi-monarchic governments like Singapore or quasi-socialist neoliberal governments like those in Western Europe. The idea that we should go back to some limited form of libertarian, classical liberal, or conservative government is a complete nonstarter.

Say hello to our new leaders. They're young, hip, compassionate, innovative, and coming for your wallet!

"Eliminate all forms of welfare and food stamps. Add government medical care to the eliminate list."

I'm going to make sure and ask Santa Claus for this at Christmas. And if he doesn't come through I'll ask the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.
