Its tempting to think that our current class of politicians is uniquely lousy, especially after watching them nationalize health care, a business that comprises one-sixth of the U.S. economy.
Actually, Obamacare builds upon Medicare and the legislative era of its passage likewise featured some pretty sick-making stories. Bobby Baker, the infamous wheeler-dealer for Lyndon Johnson, fixed many legendary deals in Congress. Now, 50 years after scandals forced him to resign, Baker has re-emerged with tales of drunken, lecherous Congressmen, votes bought with crisp wads of $100 bills, and advice to a Senators widow on how to dispose of $2 million in cash.
Corrupt politicians make the other ten percent look bad, Henry Kissinger reportedly said, but sadly, were probably stuck with them. We can dream of a higher-class of politician, but thats like yearning for a loan shark with integrity.
Instead, we should jealously guard our private economic turf, and vigorously prune and uproot excessive governmental encroachment. The Feds weedy tentacles now wrap around the massive health care, mortgage and student loan sectors, despite already saddling us with $17 trillion in debt and shockingly high rates of unemployment.
Now theyre creeping on to the little guys terrain. Kimberley Strassel of the Wall Street Journal reports a new federal target: the dangerously out-of-control world of home-based piano teachers. Meanwhile, John Stossel tells us that government inspectors visited the home of Marty the Magician ten times to assess the state of his rabbit. And mom-and-pop pizza shops face ruinous costs from FDA regulations that force them to analyze and publicly post the caloric content of each slice. According to Dominos pizza experts, pizza can be customized 34 million ways, depending on toppings, crust and size.

It’s about time someone discovered the horrors of Piano Teachers stealing each others students. An epidemic of Ivory Tickling if there ever was one.
‘Voters should get out their weed-whackers and prune back ...’
Well, therein is the problem. We’re at this point b/c the electorate is and has been for a very long time too lazy to engage. They voted for what we have now. Unhappy w/ the out come they demand the very same corrupt pols bail them out ala ‘Term Limits’.
As far as the pizza I would just post a sign that says each slice of pizza contains way more calories then the government thinks you should have.
I can't help it, but I'm stealing this for my handle.. :)
