Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has won the 2013 Heisman Trophy.

Winston is only the second redshirt freshman to win the award after Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel was handed the trophy as a redshirt freshman last year. Winston is the third player in school history to earn the distinction, following former Seminole QBs Charlie Ward ('93) and Chris Weinke ('€™00).

Given the state of Amerika on 14 Dec '13, this 'vote' does not surprise me in the least.

Sadly.

"OJ was not exonerated by exculpatory eyewitness testimony; he was acquitted a jury of black women who didn't mind that he killed a white woman who stole one of "their" men. In Winston's case, the DA knew that Erica Kinsman (her identity is well known at FSU and on the internet) engaged in consensual sexual activity with multiple black football players, and that her belated "rape" claim against Winston was a lie."

And in the end, both men were equal in the eyes of the law (at least 'til Simpson went to Vegas to try and get his Heisman back). Hence my comment, a "worthy heir."

The irony there is that when running backs were winning most of the Heisman Trophies from the late 60s through the early 80s, most of them went on to have stellar NFL careers ... and many are now enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

They should rename the Heisman trophy..."

Actually, they have already planned to rename it starting next year. In honor of Winston, the award will now be known as the Hymen Trophy.

It is evident that you care nothing for the evidence and only for innuendo. If you are ever the subject of an accusation, you’ll both want and deserve better from others.

the archives of the Heisman are littered with several mediocrities like Gino Torretta, Charlie Ward, Chris Weinke, Troy Smith and Tim Tebow who can't even keep a spot on an NFL roster.

Andre Ware. He was as bad for the Lions as Joey Harrington.

the Heisman Trophy has a Moral Requirement? that’s news to me.

your assessment of society today I would say is accurate. I mean, look at who we have in the WH.

This is what goes on in College, though, thanks to the liberal education system. While you may be shocked at Winston and Casher’s activities, sadly, this is not out of the norm. This is accepted behavior. If you want to change that, you have to change the education system.

As for his GF, she hasn’t said much, but she was with him at the ceremony. From some of her comments in the past, she appears to be the one who wears the pants in that relationship. I suspect if Winston’s allowed to get his sidepieces, she probably is free to as well. Welcome to how Relationships in the 21st Century operate. It’s sad, but it is what it is.

However many things were involved in Winston's encounter with Miss Kinsman, a hymen was not among them.

Peyton should have won the Heisman, but a media searching for controversy (or people with other motives) awarded it to Charles Woodson - a defensive player. They told us a defender deserved the award. How many have there been since then?

Manning got ripped off.

Ty Detmer. Danny Wuerffel. The list goes on and on.

Winston is a 2-sport Star.

Charlie Ward had a very good career in the NBA. I think he did okay.

Winston has stated he would like to be the next Bo Jackson/Deon Sanders and play both NFL and MLB.

If he’s smart he’ll go the MLB route. Longer career, stay healthier.

Ding, ding.

Correct, and the SEC didn't put out a typical SEC defense this year.

FSU has a great chance of beating Auburn.

I forgot that Manning finished #2 that year.

I remembered Woodson as an exceptional player who probably could have played on both sides of the ball.

I think the Heisman Trophy voters have a bias against QBs like Marino and Manning because these guys have so much composure and maturity at the position that they look like NFL quarterbacks while they're still in college. That's why so many Heisman-winning QBs are these run/option/pass QBs who don't have a prayer of making in the NFL.

"It is evident that you care nothing for the evidence and only for innuendo. If you are ever the subject of an accusation, you’ll both want and deserve better from others."

If I was under consideration for an award, promotion, etc. that was predicated not only on my performance, but on character and integrity, I can assure you I would go out of my way to avoid situations where such accusations could be made. In the event such accusations were made, and there was such a brouhaha, I would decline that award/promotion. Some things are simply bigger than ourselves.

If Winston (who has three more shots at the Heisman) were to come out and say, "There's been a lot of controversy over my activities off the field, and while I fully stand by my assertions of my innocence, there is a lot of history behind that trophy, and I would not have that controversy attached to this year's award, I'm going to decline and ask the committee to vote again without my name being considered," I would have a hell of a lot of respect for him.

You are the typical jameis apologist. If this were a regular joe, he would be charged with rape. Jameis at the very least is a lowlife.

I heard him speak tonight. He is NOT smart. He will choose football, play 2 years in the NFL, fail miserably and declare bankruptcy after buying each member of his posse an Escalade. After a brief stint in the CFL, he will make his triumphant return to the NFL as the 3rd string QB for the Jags.

'Chris Casher says he tried to video the girl and Winston. '

Crime? Just curious if video recording that would be a criminal act in that case.

And then five years after that he’ll be a key profile in an HBO special about former NFL players who are broke and living in refrigerator boxes while they work at used-car dealerships.
