Pardon me for being personal for this time of grief.
My older brother, USMA grad of 1972 who broke his neck bodysurfing and has been a Quad ever since, has declined a permanent tracheotomy and will probably leave us soon. For 41+ years, he has been my hero, making lemonade out of the lemons and having a good family life as well. As a good Christian, we know his body will no longer be his prison and he will be free.
For me it is just that having lost our Father in April, this leaves me somewhat adrift and feeling bereft. I know that I will overcome and adapt but this will be a hard time for me in the near future.
You can only do what you can. Seems like he has done what he could. May the family who remains here on earth be able to let God carry their sorrow at the temporary separation. Godspeed.
I weep for you. Prayers to you and your family.
Prayers up! May God keep you, your brother and the rest of your family close and comforted. May he give you strength.
My father was in a VA hospital for 19 years (stroke, heart attacks). He had a DNR order that was ignored at least 3 times by hospital staff. My mother even pointed it out to them and they told her they didn’t care what the piece of paper said. So if he’s in private care he may have his wishes respected. If he’s in a government hospital...
"The peace that passeth understanding..."
I will be praying for you and your bro today.
Prayers up for God’s strength, peace, and comfort for your brother and for you all. May the Lord ease him peacefully out of this life and welcome him into the next.
God bless...will keep praying here.
You have my prayers, too.
Your brother is going to a better place-—but it’s sure hard for those of us who are left behind ...
May the Lord fill you and your loved ones with His presence, love, comfort and peace as you walk through this together.
Your brother sounds like a courageous and good man. May he slip away painlessly and peacefully and wake up in the presence of His Lord.
Your post reminded me of this:
Some glad morning when this life is o'er,
I'll fly away;
To a home on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
I'll fly away, fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
When the shadows of this life have gone,
I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison bars has flown,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away)
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
Oh. How glad and happy when we meet
I'll fly away
No more cold iron shackles on my feet
I'll fly away
I'll fly away, fly away Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die Hallelujah, by and by
I'll fly away.
Just a few more weary days and then,
I'll fly away;
To a land where joy shall never end,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away)
I'll fly away, fly away Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
Prayers for you and your brother.
Prayers for you and your brother and family. That is very sad, but you are right at least you will be able to say goodbye.
“Like a seed beneath the snow dreaming of Spring.”
May your brother be lifted on to our Fathers reward and may his life strengthen you in your journey. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Thank you for bringing us in. I salute your brother’s service to our nation, and I pray for his soul to be welcomed into salvation, and for you to finish your race with courage and ever-stronger faith. God bless you, brother.
God bless ((hugs))
Your brother is your example to follow - even if things suck, we still go on. Yes he thinks he’s at the end of that, and I can understand it. But for 41 years he’s shown how to make lemons out of lemonade. I know you will to.
As I know from my own losses in life, even when nothing of that loss gets better, we get better at accepting it, at living with it and going on.
Peace be with your brother, you and all your family.
Prayers for you and your brother.
My mom is in hospice, tough time.
