I might add that I doubt hens consider their eggs a "child"

It’s not like the PETA folks are all that heavy on facts... but you’d sure expect them to be pro-life.

I wouldn’t say never since the eggs used to produce flu vaccines must be fertilized.Occasionally, the flocks are kept for regular egg production if prices are up.The odds of any particular egg being fertilized is very small but fertilized eggs do make it to your grocery store.
