You’re a cheesemaker too! Me too, for over 20 years, specifically hard and soft goat cheeses.

My son-in-law is having such a hard time getting .22 for a decent price

Where in Texas do you live? The WALMART in Cedar Park has Stinger .22 all the time. It's great for plinking. Five boxes per trip, and you can bring home a lot of ammo in a week. Get there early on Thursday, and you can get three bricks of the good stuff.

I filter all my air through the constant fires the little shiite for brains punk neighbor sets. Every day and they’re never watched. Throat is sore right now, eyes are burning and I’m coughing with all the smoke coming in the house. The other neighbors are air headed city folk who are totally clueless. The ones down the street “borrowed” my brand new never used garden rake and then claimed they didn’t know anything about it. Get to know your neighbors? Loan them your stuff? Ha, I don’t think so. There’s always strangers along our property line and just last night there were some sitting on another neighbors’ deck. No, thanks, I’ll be an army of one.

BTW, sowed another row of various seeds at the crack of dawn this morning but waiting on tomorrow’s weather to pass before putting out the tomatoes and peppers.

I’ve pulled a few out of the dryer and holler at the person who did it.

I’ve had several orders of .22LR on backorder from Sportsman’s Guide dating back to Jan 2013. Every 3 months or so I would get an annoying email stating if I didn’t click that I wanted to keep my order, they would cancel it. I got these emails for every order in which I had 10 or so orders with varying amounts of .22LR. Well I have called a few months ago so ask if this was BS or not as I can’t believe I was that far back in the que for backorders, or that no one is getting orders for .22LR fulfilled over at Sportsman’s Guide. They said .22LR was coming in dribs and drabs and everyone on backorder is first come first served. Well fast forward to a week ago and I started getting these emails which was a automated response from the CEO Glen Olsen apologizing but saying they wouldn’t be getting the backordered items in stock. This re-affirms what I was thinking when I asked a customer service rep a few months ago if these will ever come in stock and if there is a chance I would get screwed out of my orders especially after waiting this long. To add insult to injury, I had specifically signed up for Sportsman’s Guide’s Buyers Club for $29.99 a year for discounts (5% off ammo IIRC) but all of the orders I placed were for .22LR and now the buyers club I spent $30 on I never was able to use since they cancelled all of my .22LR orders... Word to the wise is be wary of SPortsman’s Guide. As for me I am done with them forever, I don’t appreciate shady backorder tactics. I also remember in 2009 there were items listed as “IN STOCK” but once placing the online order about half of the items get backordered, and then to make matters worse is there infamous sliding scale of pushing back backordered ETA.

Might want to stash an encyclopedia or one of those how to fix anything books.

I have a bookshelf full of Mother Earth magazines from the 70's. Lots of interesting projects in there.

In the “good buys” category, I just got an almost-new Back 2 Basics strainer for $23 from the Goodwill auction website. I was checking some of their other listings, and you can get a lot of good homesteading equipment from there. Makes me wish even more that my house was done so I had room for all that stuff!

The strainer I got is the hand-cranked kind that sends tomato puree out one side and the seeds and skins out the other. I’m hoping it’ll make my canning easier this summer. If it works, I’ll invest in the extra attachments for grapes and berries and things. It would be nice to have something to help me process wild grapes more easily.

And I was in pretty good shape last fall. Now...not so much.

I've been taking the stairs at work whenever possible for that same reason. I work on the 5th floor. The garden out on my land is a steep climb, usually by the time I'm to where I can get up there without stopping, it's time to button it up for the winter. By spring, I have to stop 5 times to catch my breath. This year, because of all the stair climbing I was able to get up the hill in one go, and still have the strength to do 5 hours worth of work on it.
