Some pix to which I already have access (my husband put others on Facebook, but I can't get them yet):

1 year old, in background, with sis's dog in his own last week:

3yo, for one of her weekly medicated baths (before I started commercial dog bath houses):

6yo, with baby son:

6yo still, but baby is older; this is one of my favorite pix of them and often post it here:

10yo, playing jolly ball with our son:

So sorry, I know she is your special dog. I will pray for you.

It's our sad duty to do the right thing by our dogs - and my day is not far off.

I’m so sorry for your loss, I know it hurts like nothing else.

I can’t imagine life without a dog. We know that one day they will break our hearts, but we take them in anyway.

Beautiful- both of them.

It’s been over a decade and I still very much miss my old dogs.....but I am blessed with a great rescue now. Dogs make life sweeter but it really hurts when they pass on.

So sorry for your loss. That’s a long time to love. Leaves a huge hole when she’s gone.

I am so sorry for your very fresh loss, too! My husband’s uncle always had English Springers. He loves dogs so much he breaks up thinking about other friends’ and relatives’ dogs he knew well; again relayed how he didn’t make it in time for his uncle’s most-beloved Springer’s euthanasia (uncle knew he loved her and would want to see her but she couldn’t make it for his visit). Rich only ever had 1 dog, really, until he married into mine.

I pray you will heal with time, also. But you never forget. I still never forget my dog who died almost 20 years ago, or my kitty soon after that. And right now I’m just melancholy most of the time.

Not you, too. My, I hope things go as well as they can. Our dog had been really walking the exponential curve, with peaks and valleys. Thank you for your kindness! (And I hope your younger one keeps your spirits up!)

Not immediate, sorry if I gave that impression. But she is 13 and failing slowly but surely - I can see it coming and it makes me sad.

She, fortunately, has no idea! She is still loving life and chasing squirrels, although she is retired from active competition.

I sort of considered that when I got my younger dogs - they are 8 and 4.

When the time comes, and only then, IF you were to consider a Lab (so as not to have direct comparisons with your beloved Tara) let me know. I know some excellent, excellent breeders in the Southeast for both field and English Labs.

I am so sorry.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thank you very much Eaker. That was kind of you.

I know she is meeting my sister who has her last dog Stoney with her. Tara knew Stoney pretty well. She also will have Yanto, the old dog who died only a week after that pix shown with him was taken. And of course Yanto and my sis knew my beloved Shana very well, and Tara can finally meet that mythical creature, who will be the benevolent boss! LOL All Shepherds.

Oh, and maybe Tara can meet my mythical creature of a cat, Ashley. And in Heaven I think Tara will tone down her small-animal problems and get a single pointed whack from Ashley when she pushes his very patient gentlemanly self too far.

God bless all our animals!

My condolences. We lost our doxie in 2010 after 9 years (he was almost 12). Got a new one 3 months later. He was 1.5 years old at the time.

You are quite welcome!

My thirteen year old min-pin lost his second eye and the emergency clinic wanted to euthanize him but I wouldn’t let them.

He is completely blind and close to deaf so he bumps around the house waiting for me to come home. When I walk in the door he is transformed into a tail-wagging puppy again.

Then we settle down for the evening with him sleeping in my lap the rest of the evening then at bed time he crawls under my chin for the rest of the night.

They said he would have no “quality of life” yet he seems pretty happy to me.
