Were Elliot Rodger's Victims Killed by Hollywood?
The Virginian ^ | 5/26/2014 | Moneyrunner

So a 22-year-old son of Hollywood privilege goes on a murder spree, killing 6 and then himself. People who write for a living mount their favorite hobby horses and tell us “what it all means.”

Since we are all critics now, I want to get in on the action. What do we know? Quite a lot, actually. The killer wrote a “manifesto:” apparently a must-do for people who want to go out with a bang, and who have the time and leisure to chronicle their lives. I read the whole thing and it's fascinating because it reads like a movie script for a really bad film.

It seems that his hang-up is that he couldn't get girls. Living in Hollywood, rich, and couldn't get to first base. Which is strange, but also quite revealing. He lived in the epicenter of getting girls. Hollywood is all about getting girls. It is Jannah, the Islamic Paradise of girl getting. Men go there to find sexual objects – both female and male. Women go there to be gotten, advertising their attributes, real and enhanced. They are not shy or demure about it. Miley Cyrus rides an inflatable phallus and gets rich and famous for doing so. Some of the town’s hottest starlets made their debuts starring in their own home-made porno-flicks.

Closer to home, the killer’s father was not only in the movie industry, but sold “art” pictures of naked women. So what’s a 22 year old virgin to do when the thing that's at the center of his entire culture is denied to him? When his sexual pressure-cooker gets overheated? He blows up. And takes six people with him. His victims were the victims of a nut, made crazy by a culture where sex is literally everything: money, power, validation, gratification and identity. At one point he concludes that the route to sex is more money, lots of it, so he buys lottery tickets. He urges his mother to marry one of the wealthy men she knows so that he can be part of a uber-rich family and blames her for his sexual failure.

In other times and other places, people like Elliot Rodger may have become a hermit, a priest or found another objective. But he was living in a place and time where sex was the center of everything. In a strange and inverted way, Elliott Rodger, insane killer, was made by Hollywood.

No. These people were not killed by:

Homosexuality, guns, knives, movies, video games, cars, NRA, republicans, conservatives, pictures, the internet, the government, Nancy pelosi, obammy, CLIMATE CHANGE!, sunshine, moonshine, water, cats, dogs...

Things that killed these people:

A crazy guy.

It's one theory. But he was turned on by women and from what I have heard, homosexuals are not.

[What SSRIs were found in his system?]

GSK and Eli Lilly would probably pay for his immediate cremation if they could...

I don't blame anyone but the killer. What I'm suggesting is that the hyper-emphasis that Hollywood places on sex may have added to his personality issues.

Definitely gay, which girls in his vicinity could spot a mile away. Also, he was a narcissist, so very into himself girls didn’t stand a chance.

And raised in the crazy Hollywood culture where stardom is all. In his twisted mind, he was starring in his own movie. He accomplished that goal, as we all know who he is now, a definite “Somebody.”

Plus, the rivalry-with-father aspect. He’s out-starred dad, who is, after all, only an assistant director.

So very sick, all of them.

No one’s disagreeing with you. He killed his victims with a knife and guns. He is a nut OK? He dropped classes because there were good looking couples in his class, OK? Now what made this particular nut, with money, cars, even connections to the movie industry crazy about being a 22-year-old-virgin ... in Hollywood .. the epicenter of sex? Crazy enough to kill people and commit suicide? Aren't you the least bit curious? The culture didn't kill his victims, he did. But could the culture have shaped him and turned him from a pathetic loser into a pathetic loser who kills people?

Also, in the past few weeks men have come forward about the Hollywood Pedophile ring..maybe this guy was one of the victims and that is what ultimately set him off..he goes on and on about wanting to have sex with this woman and that woman. I have learned that when a guy talks too much about how much he wants to have sex with women, most likely he’s hiding the fact that he’s gay

Pedophilia is part of the sick culture of Howood. Remember Roman Polanski?

Wikepedia: “In March 1977, film director Roman Polanski was arrested and charged in Los Angeles with five offenses against Samantha Gailey, a 13-year-old girl[1] – rape by use of drugs, perversion, sodomy, lewd and lascivious act upon a child under 14, and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor.”

But HoWood only remembers him as a GREAT director.

Absolutely, anyone with that much pent up rage and anger is extremely confused about a lot of things — His rubber band just kept getting tighter and tighter and tighter and then...snap!

You never hear about bill clinton getting angry do ya...but then again he had interns for that sort of thing.

thoughts unmoored to reality and a complete failure to believe he could be something different than what he fed his thought factory every day.

We all watch the same crap, play or played shoot em games and none of us would even consider giving so much as a paper cut to another human being.

He objectified his life and in so doing objectified others.

The movie industry is a scape goat...

First off, he wasn’t a “son of Hollywood privilege.” He had only the most tangential connections to Hollywood growing up — his dad was a commercial director, which is low on the food chain, and he lived 25 miles from the center of the Industry.

His dad lost a ton of money on a failed documentary, and the family had to move out of their upper-middle-class digs. He spent his teen years with a struggling single mother in a rental house in down-market Canoga Park in the Northwest San Fernando Valley. He rode the bus every day to high school and resented every second of it.

The whole family — mother, father, stepmother — were shyster wannabes trying to break in to Hollywood, adopting the “fake it till you make it” strategy, and keep up appearances. His dad finally got an AD job on “The Hunger Games,” after the kid was grown. Hence the Beemer and the five hundred bucks a month to go to college.

So how is his rampage attributed to being wealthy or a product of Hollywood? He was neither. He was Jay Gatsby, if Jay Gatsby had gone on a narcissistic rampage fueled by thwarted ambition instead of figuring out a way to be successful.

And how come when “urban youths” murder strangers playing the “knock-out” game, which is indisputably motivated by racial and gender animus, no one suggests they’re mentally ill? They’re simply amoral, which manifests as evil.

Why then are we so quick to attribute mental illness to what are clearly the actions of an amoral, evil white kid? It’s soft racism. If it’s a white kid, the chattering class (white) is more comfortable talking about delusion and illness than the devil. Because parents with white teenagers — well, it all hits too close to home.

And if you read his manifesto, there is no hint — none — of delusion and disassociation from reality. He had a very clear view of the Hollywood food chain, who succeeds socially in that society and why or why not, and the brutal Thunderdome that is the Los Angeles private and public school systems.

Just because you fail at football doesn’t mean you don’t understand the game.

He failed and lashed out.

There are higher or greater reasons to become a priest including answering God’s call. Entering the sacred priesthood simply to push aside or “sublimate” one’s natural urges isn’t necessarily the best of reasons, although I’ll grant you that some may. One would hope that in their formation process, they would discover their real reason for doing so.

No. His victims were killed by him.

My personal opinion is that he was poorly parented. But it was not his parents who killed his victims, it was him.

He chose to do it and he enjoyed doing it.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I do not think so. To attempt to ascribe blame to his culture presumes that at some point you started off with a fairly normal individual. I do not think that was the case. You start off with a schizophrenic (his only named psychiatrist, Dr. Sophy, reportedly prescribed an anti-schizophrenia drug, Risperidone) and you end up with one. Not that the culture didn’t hurt him, especially his obsession with his own virginity and his blinding hatred for happy couples, and, as well, his desperate desire for social status. I suspect, though, that his culture served to focus the crazy, not to cause it. Just my $0.02.
