It was very nice. Just like we remember, nobody fussed when the Mayor mentioned God, nobody fussed when the Baptist minister prayed “in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.” Everyone shook hands with all the veterans. Nobody hassled the Boy Scouts or the Girl Scouts; if the weren’t your children, they’re your neighbors’ or go to your church.
There was a lone ideologue with a sign that said something positive about Jesus on one side, and something negative about homosexuality on the other. He was trying to hand out pages, but most people just shrugged and shook their heads or didn’t even notice him.

It wasn’t a gay pride parade after all, so the guy with the sign should have just tried to enjoy the festivities. Not everything has to be political, sheesh.
