Pissed Off Man Confronts Police After They Shot His Dog [VIDEO]
The Daily Caller ^ | June 26, 2014 | Chuck Ross

A man whose dog was recently shot and killed by Salt Lake City police has posted a video of an exchange he had with officers minutes after the shooting.

Sean Kendall’s 3-year-old Weimaraner, named Geist, was shot in the head last week after officers entered the homeowner’s yard while searching for a missing child.

The video, posted to Kendall’s Facebook page on Wednesday, begins 15 minutes after the shooting, right after Kendall received a call from animal control informing him of the incident.

“Which officer shot my dog? Please,” Kendall asked several officers standing in his front yard when he arrived at the scene.

“We were looking for a lost child,” one officer responded. A neighborhood parent had reported their 3-year-old child missing earlier in the day. The child was later found asleep in the basement of the family’s home.

“And that gives you probable cause to enter a private residence without permission from the owner?” said a livid Kendall, who asked for the names and badge numbers of the officers.

“He was threatened by the dog, and he shot the dog. That’s as simple as it gets,” one officer said.

The officer who shot Geist was not at the scene at the time, though the officers gave Kendall his name.

“So backing up slowly and leaving the residence was not an option?” Kendall asked, his voice growing more agitated.

“I understand it wasn’t you personally,” he said, “but you guys killed my dog.”

I’ve had this dog for three years. He was my best friend, and he was shot because an officer couldn’t back the f*** up out of my house!”

“Is that against policy? Is that against training?” Kendall asked.

Kendall referenced a spate of cases, often dubbed “puppycides,” in which police officers shoot dogs, often with little provocation.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Kendall met with city police officials and wants the officer who shot Geist to be fired.

kindess, love of animals is not at all predictive of
kindness or even decency to people. however cruelty
to animals is highly predictive of cruelty to humans.
sorry I don’t have a cite handy.

"it seems the cops are setting traps to use the ‘emergency vehicle’ flashing lights law to give tickets (revenue, who would have guessed?)"

Exactly. Just a trap. They cop said he had done nothing all day but write tickets.

Now that I know, I see these traps all over. Just Revenuers for the Welfare State!

Apparently, Sean Kendall doesn't understand that in the New Amerika, it's ALL CONFRONTATION, all the time.

Backing up is NOT "confronting".

Too bad you didn’t have an old truck to “accidentally” run over a couple of local road signs at an inconspicuous time of day (it’s called “revenue neutral”).

I did my duty today: I ratted out a cop fishing net to "interested parties" who were going to be "trolled" for large cash donations (DUI).

Nice day, and a rollicking local golf tourney, complete with "adult beverages". They were setting up to make the Big Score.

We don’t have this problem in Norway because the police don’t carry guns and really don’t want to either.

Hasn’t office safety ever heard of backing away?

What about pepper spray?

Studies have shown that children that abuse animals grow up to abuse people – we can follow that analogy with the supposition that soon the Police will be more really shooting civilians without much thought.

I give it a 50/50 chance the homeowner gets charged for something.

Cops don’t like those who challenge them.

I don’t see how this can come back onto the homeowner. He’ll own the city if it does.

Well, I have seen it a few times. The reasoning is that since the dog was shot, it must have been dangerous, therefore the owner will be cited for having a dangerous animal.

A local cop shot a dog in the owners front yard, and the owner complained. They are now in court fighting a “Dangerous Animal “ charge. The cop climbed into a fenced in back yard looking for a robber, and found a bull dog instead.

I’d be pissed off too if a police officer shot my dog! R.I.P Geist.
