Kohl's And The Rest Of The Retailers Are In Deep Trouble
Zero Hedge ^ | 09/14/2014 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 09/14/2014 6:52:13 AM PDT by george76

Facts are stubborn things, but statistics are pliable.” ? Mark Twain.

I never believe government manufactured numbers. They will always be adjusted, massaged, and manipulated to achieve a happy ending for the propagandists attempting to control and fleece the sheep. Yesterday, the government produced retail sales numbers for August that were weak and the corporate MSM propaganda machine immediately threw up bold headlines declaring how strong these numbers were. Positive stories were published on the interwebs and Wall Street hack economists were rolled out on CNBC, where the bubble headed bimbos and prostitutes for the status quo like Jim Cramer and Steve Liesman declared the recovery gaining strength. Woo Hoo.

If everyone else is whipping out that credit card, why aren’t you? Credit card debt has reached a new post recession high. They tell me consumer confidence is soaring. Forget about the 92 million working age Americans supposedly not in the labor force. Forget about real household income hovering at 1999 levels. Forget about median household net worth still 30% lower than 2007. Forget about what you see with your own two eyes in malls, strip centers and office parks as you motor around our suburban sprawl empire of debt. Those Store Closing, Space Available, and For Lease signs mean nothing.

...

It appears our friendly government drones may be pumping the current data to give the appearance of recovery

Thank you for asking.

I could make some recommendations, but I’m frankly more interested in getting the board talking about ideas.

You have any thoughts?

Speaking of Kohls, this is a picture from yesterday at my local Kohls.

Of course they are holiday trees not Christmas trees.

How precisely, am I supposed to know anything of the sort?

Who is supporting American jobs?

Who?

Why do you think that might be the case? Do you think they're doing it for the sheer fun of it?

Actually as far as goods like clothing foods, etc one single stores demands have had more to do with manufacturing going to China and other countries. When that one company moves into an area small businesses die and some of the larger ones as well. The rise in off shore made goods can just about go hand and hand with the rise of one certain Big Box store.

Nah companies can make it here. Many do. The problem is one retailer keeps pushing and pushing manufacturers to go off shore for that everyday low price which BTW is a farce in itself. Oh and the corp is owned and ran by Liberals.

YOU made the accusation... it's up to YOU to name names

and i'll ask you AGAIN, do you relay your displeasure to your elected representatives who are responsible every time?

it doesn't cost anything to copy and paste your complaints into an email

or simply complain to those that are not responsible and can't change it here on FR???

Look it appears we’re about to just start arguing. That won’t really help either one of us.

Nice having a discussion with you.

I will bow out now. Have a great day.

That kind of thing should never be done at a register. She should have been referred to the customer service desk.

Yesterday I went to the boot store to get a new pair of barn boots. Servis has many variants, made in USA but none fit. I was FORCED to settle for Chinese boots. Are our US Servicemen and women FORCED to wear Chinese combat boots? This is a HUGE problem.

No you couldn't.

but I’m frankly more interested in getting the board talking about ideas.

The only talking you're getting the board to do involves what type of troll you are.

Are you Willie Green?

I am a man... I do not "shop". I go to the store knowing what I want and what I expect to leave with and know what to expect for cost.

4 years ago I had found that Sears sold a simple black cotton sock branded New Balance, made in USA (supposedly).

This was before all the snot-nosed punk kids I see on the streets up to no good wearing this style sock with shorts and sandals.

Anyways, the last time I went to Sears because I needed socks... they are no longer available. I guess I will just wear bloody rags on my feet like Valley Forge.

"I am still in a huge minority."

What in the world is a "huge minority"?

Is that kind of like healthy, yet sick?

It's not a "discount" coupon, referring to the two I've received from Kohl's. It's an outright gift of 10 bucks to buy anything you want, no strings attached except, of course, your item has to be $10 or over. If it's a 10 dollar item you just pay the tax and walk out.

I haven't seen the $10 gift certificate in the mail in our area yet. Might be a regional offering or maybe I haven't spent enough to merit one..

“What are you doing?”

I’ve worked in a couple of campaigns now for conservative candidates. Nobody I’ve worked for has even gotten close. I’ll keep it up with flyers and door knocking. (There hasn’t been a Republican elected in my county since Reconstruction.)

I'm afraid that C.N.N. would have an aneurysm if he learned that I have two job interviews this upcoming week. With U.S. manufacturers.

Come to Detroit, boys. The jobs are here, if you are man enough to take one.
