Days after a person was diagnosed with Ebola on U.S. soil for the first time, officials are reportedly investigating a possible Ebola infection in Washington, D.C.
At Howard University Hospital, a patient is in stable condition after presenting with symptoms that could be associated with Ebola, according to a statement today from the hospital. The patient had recently traveled to Nigeria, where the Ebola outbreak has killed eight people.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is working with medical providers to monitor the patient's progress, officials said.
Officials are also monitoring an inmate at Cobb County Jail in Georgia. However, the initial blood test was negative for Ebola, according to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office.
Though the scares have put some on edge, the cases are not unique. After issuing an alert to hospitals and medical providers in July, the CDC has looked into approximately 100 Ebola scares in 33 states, as of Oct. 1, the agency said....

France, Spain and even England historically have much closer ties to Africa and Africans than the United States. Why have there been no ebola scares in these countries? Seems I recall a brief panic in Italy earlier in the year, but nothing else.
They don’t have black prime ministers or presidents?
They have historically closer ties and I’m under the impression that they have larger populations of Africans living in those countries. Two of the countries in the ebola hot zone are French-speaking, so I’d honestly expect France to have had a scare or two before the United States.
Why is IS only be-heading white guys?

In the US you can read news stories about ebola 24 hours a day and not read any of them twice.
If this keeps up for a long period of time there will be an attrition of physicians, nurses, X-ray, lab personal, orderlies, even the foodl services personal. If I let my imagination get away from me I believe this could rapidly overwhelm the health care industry. If it fizzles things will settle down. The problem is physicians and nurses and others will see 'cold-like' symptoms in many diseases, but you only need one of the real thing to exact an unforgiving price. Even if we learn to treat with a high degree of survivability, people are not going to want to put their families at risk. They will not be willing to constantly be on edge and put their children and spouses at potential risk. This type of constant stress will exact a toll.

That may be true, hard to tell.
They could also run screaming to international media claiming that the French are trying to kill them, a la Louis Farrakhan in this country.
When it hits DC, that is when it will be taken seriously. They don’t care about Texas, but they care about their own skin.
Couple of things. Some reports say that those countries have flight restrictions for people with passports and flights directly from the regions.
Some reports say it is in France, but they are not reporting it, because they need the tourism dollars.
Could be true.
Say what you will about France and the French but at least they still have a national identity and a will to survive, warped though it may seem when viewed from our side of the Atlantic.
