The nation's largest union and professional association of nurses said it will rise up in protest if hazardous-material suits are not in every hospital soon.
"I'm angry about this," said RoseAnn DeMoro, executive director of National Nurses United. "We want the first line of defense to be the most prepared. Our hospitals are resisting us. The CDC doesn't say that we need hazmat suits. If this doesn't change dramatically, we will picket every hospital in this country if we have to."(continued)

Thank you for that explanation. I would be wary of trusting the CDC.
Off the Rez.
No, EMS is the first line of defense, and we have to enter the patient’s environment that’s crawling with pathogens.
This union has ties to the SEIU, ACORN and Occupy.
Just exploiting ebola to get some publicity I’m afraid.
Me neither and I’m an ER nurse.
We are planning to use body suits, but I have come to believe that HCWs catch it from their protective gear, and so the suits without the training are not very useful.
You are wrong and a couple of weeks late.
American Nurses are rightfully concerned about the lack of training, guidance and necessary personal gear and supplies to handle/treat suspected patients with Ebola.
Nurses stage Ebola die-in on Las Vegas Strip.

American Rns say that they are unprepared to handle ebola patients.
Evidently the nurse in Dallas didn’t get the CDC memo that you can’t get Ebola with casual contact.
= off the reservation. Meaning, nurses’ unions and other traditional ‘Rat constituents are deserting the party because of this risky suicidal nonsense
Or the one in Spain, or the one...
The head covering here is nothing like the total covering that should be present. Read this from 2001 to see how the end of life from Ebola is so horrible and contagious.

Some of the people who have caught and died from this disease were experts.
Either the suits don’t work or there is another way to catch this disease.
Not pro-Union, but they have a point.
Me neither and yep, they do.
Ditto. It is one thing to have a hard and sometimes thankless job, another to be exposed to a horrendous communicable disease without the protections that government and the CDT (Centers for Disease Transmission) KNOW are necessary...all in the name of politics.
I hope that they do go on strike - maybe that’ll wake the people of this country up to the game of Russian Roulette that the government is playing with our lives.
Well, in 2001 Barry wasn’t president...so Ebola was bad then. Now its different.
“”You don’t scapegoat and blame when you have a disease outbreak,” said Castillo. “We have a system failure. That is what we have to correct.”
Castillo is right. “
Ugh, no he’s not. Obama allowed in Ebola, and continues to do so. He IS the system failure - he and his syncophantic CDC Director who simply cannot do anything but triple down on his stupid, and obviously false, pronouncements about the transmissibility of Ebola.
My mom is a nurse. I do respect what she is saying. But I wish the union was not the standard bearer for this cause. I can smell the Marxism from here.
They need to take it up with their union-loving fuhrer. Next every US citizen will be demanding free hazmat suits. This is silly - stop allowing people from ebola areas into the US.
I can smell the Marxism from here.
And they are shrill. I would have chosen a soft-spoken person, one who has that inner-glow that a belief in God and Christ gives, and someone who was less angry, but calm and logical. Someone with gravitas. Not someone who one could see marching with a pre-made placard.
You will notice that the Surgeon General, Director of the CDC, and the horde of doctors within their departments and the HHS are not in the trenches with the nurses. They are in their offices hiding under their desks leading from behind and once in a while holding a press conference where they verify their ignorance and incompetence. If they are in the Administration then they are assumed to be liars and incompetents unless they can prove otherwise by their actions.
