An Oregon legislator wants mental evaluations for police officers as little as “once a year” for one reason: Ferguson.
Democratic Representative Lew Frederick appeared at a Portland town hall meeting over the weekend to announce a series of bills inspired by the Missouri incident involving teenager Michael Brown and police officer Darren Wilson.
“I want to have a regular psychological evaluation of every law enforcement officer,” Frederick told the crowd, which responded with cheers.
He suggested a time range from once a year to once every two years.

So this is how they are dealing with cops who refuse to get killed on the job? If you refuse to die then you must have mental issues? How about someone put a gun in the the face of this jackass, Rep. Frederick and see if he volunteers to take the bullet. If not then take him away in a straight jacket.

Our legislators should get a psych evaluation. Most are not fit for office.
Are liberals required to be this dumb to join the democRAT party or do they become this dumb after joining?
Mental evaluations and background checks.
I have done it for hiring, many times. It is very common in most municipalities. You are looking for psychological stability and willingness to be a team player.
There is no reason to repeat the process unless there is an incident that brings these factors into focus (e.g., the most common is probably heavy drinking after a divorce).
You’ll find we’re all nuts. What sane person would do this job? The sanest guys I knew were the ones who quit or were useless as teets on a boar. Firefighters too.
On course there are degrees of pathology. It isn’t healthy to have a cop that exceeds a certain hard to define level.
You don’t need a psych eval to know to shoot a 300 lb tank who is assaulting you in your police car. :-)
