Is it just me, or what exactly am I voting for here? I find the poll wording confusing. Before I vote I want to know what I am voting for—or against—in plain English. The words “stop” and “forbid” in the same sentence form a double negative, which adds up to a positive.

FOR means you oppose the antics of sanctuary cities in BLOCKING ENFORCEMENT & thus SUPPORT SB185.

Thanks for asking the question. When I first read the question, my immediate response was “Huh?”. I doubt if the person who wrote the wording even knows the definition of a double negative.

Thank you for referencing that article magna carta. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

”.. a bill that seeks to stop local governments from adopting policies that forbid local peace officers from enforcing federal immigration laws?"

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Note that following analysis of sanctuary cities may be unpopular with patriots.

With all due respect to mom & pop, as a consequence of parents not making sure that their children are being taught the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers, state and local government “leaders” of states with sanctuary cities unsurprisingly have the wires crossed.

First, state leaders unsurprisingly don’t seem understand that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate immigration. So federal immigration laws are void, and of no force as Thomas Jefferson might have put it.

Next, an unknown number of cities evidently don’t understand that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate local police departments. So police departments don’t have to comply with unconstitutional federal immigration laws imo.

So unless the states make laws to prohibit cities from becoming sanctuary cities, the Constitution favors sanctuary cities at this time imo.

In other words, Texas SB 185 is arguably worthless.

There are several “zigs and zags” concerning this issue. So am I overlooking anything?

Can you explain this to me more fully?

I’ve never seen a more confusedly worded poll. I think I am against it.

I was at the hearing on SB185. It is the only bill we have to address this problem.

Here is what Senator Perry said re his bill.
The bill does not mandate a city or officer to do anything, according to Perry’s office.

“It simply states there cannot be a blanket policy that prohibits the enforcement of state and federal immigration laws,” the statement reads.

The bill states officials “may not consider race, color, language or national origin while enforcing the laws.”

The bill also states cities may not receive state grant funds if they adopt a rule, order, ordinance or policy that prohibits the enforcement of such laws.

It also would authorize any citizen residing in the jurisdiction of a city to file a complaint with the attorney general if the citizen offers evidence to support an allegation that their city has adopted a rule, order, ordinance or policy under which the city prohibits the enforcement of immigration laws.

“If a municipality was refusing to enforce DWI laws, no one would have objections to this bill,” Perry’s statement reads. “Why are there objections to asking cities to allow law enforcement to enforce the laws already on (the books)?”

It is not as if ‘sanctuary cities’ are giving succor to those who face honor killings, stoning to death, and other state sponsored religious insanity.

These very special places are full of commies and libtards
