Honest to God serious question: This is apparently a fine young man, and a good, well-spoken citizen. But in the video he did something which I have noticed that MANY black individuals do when speaking. He frequently closed his lips and rolled them inward when he paused between words and between sentences. Many black people, of both genders do it when they’re talking, but more so males than females. Could it be just a nervous mannerism? I can’t help noticing and wondering.

Small mannerisms like biting one’s lip, clearing one’s throat, slight rubbing of the corner of the eye, nose, chin or mouth are general indicators that a person is not entirely comfortable with public speaking (or speaking to a camera). It's actually very common when you are looking for it.

Might be a mechanism to stop annoying pausing mouth sounds (ah, er, um, etc.).
