That's why government should be:

• Hardening the grid against an EMP attack
• Having every municipality >50,000 set up a site where a mini nuclear reactor can be dropped and connected to restore power.
• Hardening any electronics for water pumping and purification systems.
• Identifying the most common car parts and household parts that will fail in an EMP and stockpiling them. If you can get water, electric service and transportation back up quickly, the rest will work itself out.

My question is: Isn't a car essentially already a Faraday cage because it's a soft interior wrapped in steel?
