Cuts in Social Security, Confiscation, or Wealth Redistribution?
Canada Free Press ^ | 04/20/15 | Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh

If anything needs cutting or confiscating is the politicians' power and insatiable desire to spend the taxpayers' money

The Governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, gave a speech on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, in which he proposed, among other things, raising the retirement age from 67 to 69. He stated that, “We should remember that Social Security at its core should be retirement insurance. I’m suggesting that Americans pay into the system throughout the course of their life, knowing that it will be there, if they need it, to support them in their later years, so seniors will not grow old in back-breaking poverty. But, if you are fortunate enough not to need it, you will have paid into a system that will continue to help Americans, neighbors, friends, who need it the most… It is fair, and it is what we must continue to do. We can only do that by changing Social Security.”

According to our government’s website, “The Social Security Act was signed by FDR on 8/14/35. Taxes were collected for the first time in January 1937 and the first one-time, lump-sum payments were made that same month. Regular ongoing monthly benefits started in January 1940.” It is important to note that it is a TAX, not an insurance premium, and it is not an insurance program.

I have to chuckle.
Clicked on the link and right in the middle of the story is a pop-in for a Social Security disability lawyer outfit.

does anybody really think that in about ten years, whether from collapse of the dollar, trillions in debt, paying for millions of immigrant entitlements, we will still be able to pay ss?
nobody really believes that, do they?

So, Krispy Kreme, being the good conservative he is(I just threw up a little)thinks it's just fine for the government to take it's citizens money and not give them something back for it. I know where I have heard this thinking before, From each according to his ability, to each according to his need, from some guy named Marx.

probably from a man who hasn't done a hard days work in his lifetime, nor missed a meal....

SS is basically Mr. Christie, a TAX we are forced to pay for our entire working lives so people like you can redistribute it to every louse in the country, every faker, and all the new illegals you people can force onto us....

Christie, keep your filthy communist paws off our Social Security. Its bad enough that the feds are now taxing it (confiscating part of it).
We paid for this miserable pension. We paid...most of us involuntarily... for years and yaers and years.
STAY AWAY from our social security, you da*ned Thief!

(if you insist on confiscating more Soc Security pension payments, start doing it with the NEW enrollees, not with the rest of us who’ve already been paying in. It is DISHONEST in the extreme to tell us what we will receive all these years, while taxing us for it........and then take what you promised away from us. Crooked thieves!

I am just a lousy retired lifelong taxpayer.
If I can see it, figure it out and document it, why can't our elected criminals of both parties??

Furthermore, we need to look at what happened in Greece today. The government just seized all capital.

Greece asks public agencies to hand over reserve cash

This is a fiscal meltdown which will cause the collapse of the Euro, and the US Dollar is not far behind.

I think a collapse is coming very, very soon.

Social Security at its core should be retirement insurance.

There was a time it was titled Social Security Insurance.

How freely do these miscreant politicians spend what citizens have worked their entire lives paying into, giving the benefits to illegal aliens that they consider "entitled" to them. Haven't we been lectured the money is running out?

MORE THAN A HALF MILLION SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS ISSUED TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS GRANTED AMNESTY

In a letter to Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and Ben Sasse (R-NE), exclusively obtained by Breitbart News, the Social Security Administration (SSA) reveals that by the end of Fiscal Year 2014 the Obama administration “had issued approximately 541,000 original SSNs to individuals authorized to work under the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy since its inception” in 2012.

If one were to examine socialist stupidity at its inception the retirement age of 65 assumed that most would never make it to that age.

Median life expectancy in 1940 was 61.7 (1940 was the year the first payment was made )

Median life expectancy in 2010 was 78.7

So to infer the same rate of failure to live to the requisite age, the retirement age would have to be like 82 years old.

The entire scheme is based on fraud. One has to question the number of payers where both spouses died before they could collect a dime, versus now, where the average beneficiary collects for 13 years

You can see the impetus for ObamaCare in reducing the median life expectancy to below 65 years to make the program a net generator of revenue, not and outlay.

Christie speaks like a committed liberal. Social Security is an abomination of the general welfare clause, and has NO place in American society.
That being said, getting us out of the whole SS program starts with giving people control over their contributions, which means FedGov stops using it as a petty cash account, to be tapped whenever the spirit moves them.
Then, we need a stepped reduction in the contribution rate to keep pace with the declining demographics of the last generation to draw from it. I would suggest that people at age 50+ should be assured full benefits. Then, sliding that back by 5% of benefits for each year younger than 50, at the time of adopting such a plan as this; down to zero. So, those at 30 years of age or less, would know that they need to take care of their own planning. The offset would be that Americans once again have to take charge of their own retirement planning.
A return to personal responsibility is not a bad thing.

Just as you are about to retire and get the money you paid high taxes for and with little return, the corrupt politicians raise the retirement age. They are not affected because they have pensions they never put money into.
YOU get to help pay for their retirement.

Social Security at its core should be retirement insurance.

There was a time it was titled Social Security Insurance.

There was a time when it was called a safety net.

Christie is simply saying aloud what politicians have been doing quietly for years: They will keep the program solvent by increasing the retirement age (which they have already done), and it will be means-adjusted (which is coming). Those childless Americans who thought they’d build their nest-eggs with non-taxable contributions to 401Ks are going to find that they’ll get almost no SS, while those who socked away nothing will get nice monthly SS payments.

I stopped my 401K contributions years ago (I needed the money for the present expenses of raising a family); if I’m able to re-start them it would only be to the extent it is matched by my employer. Socialism simply doesn’t reward those who work hard and put something away for a rainy day; rather, it apeases the grasshoppers who frolic and play while the ants work away...
