The linked article has plenty of researched evidence that at least throws into question whether homosexuals are Born That Way, but that is of no matter to the Left. As it is with abortion, even to bring it up as a topic of discussion will garner extreme, hysterical responses.
This is yet another “irretrievably settled” Leftist position that is not amenable to logic reason or evidence. It is also one of the most sacred beliefs in Secular Humanist canon. If you do not accept the Born That Way catechism, you are the Infidel. You are “homophobic,” in fact.
[Homophobia is a genuine mental illness, in which the afflicted has an irrational fear of homosexuals, because exposure to same would threaten to draw out one’s own latent homosexuality. It is typically expressed by compulsively engaging in a homosexual act, then later inflicting violence upon a random homosexual to assuage one’s guilt.]
So this is a very specific and definable clinical diagnosis, but it is thrown around freely by amateur psychologists at anyone who dares to express even the slightest doubt about Born That Way. On other issues, if you disagree with the Left, you are, by definition, stupid, ill-informed and/or evil. On this issue, you are also mentally ill -- and may thusly require compulsory “re-education” or “sensitivity training.” At the very least, you should be marginalized, silenced and deprived of a means to earn a living.
Why?
Because if homosexuality is not a preference, a sexual dysfunction/fetish, an explicit violation of religious principles or even an acquired taste, then what one does in bed and with whom one does it attains the legal status of a protected demographic -- and as such, enjoys the same accord as any ethnic group [that is designated as Victim].
[In the process of moving from tolerance, to acceptance to enforced support of homosexuality, also quashed are any expressions of purely secular concerns about embracing phenomena that further the continued Western self-selection for extinction as reproduction (for the future) is increasingly replaced with pleasure for its own sake (for the here and now). Meanwhile, those who actually proscribe abortion and homosexuality -- and explicitly disdain our culture and freedoms -- are prodigiously increasing in number as they move to take our places.]
Born That Way as an edict makes it so persons can be legally compelled to violate their own secular or religious values, the same as if a white baker refused to make a wedding cake for blacks. It still does not mean that a Jewish baker will be forced to make a wedding cake emblazoned with a hakenkreuz, nor shall any government compel a black baker to make a KKK wedding cake. Those are choices, after all -- and they’re understood by all “good, sensible” people to be “offensive” choices at that.
Still, for the foreseeable future, Muslims will remain exempt from catering same-sex weddings. No Leftist activists nor government officials are going to want to risk that kind of wrath. Christians, however, are safe targets. They haven’t beheaded people for not embracing the same faith for several centuries, while Muslims have done so as recently as last week.
More importantly, Christianity is seen by friend and foe [I am not a Christian] as a foundational component of Western Civilization -- certainly by the Left -- while those who may hate America are regarded as Agents of Change, and thus [at least, temporary] allies. That is why, even if their atrocities against women and homosexuals may be far worse, they get a pass from the legal and cultural meat-grinder.
It would be one thing if the government prohibited all bakers from making same-sex wedding cakes. It would be another if Christian bakers refused to make any kind of cake for homosexuals. Most would understand those to be illegal as well as immoral -- and neither has happened. There are plenty of other bakers who would be willing to make these wedding cakes -- most, in fact -- but the activists are deliberately targeting the small number of self-identified Christian businesses [and even Christian churches], forcing them with the choice of violating their own values or be hounded, fined and litigated out of existence.
Dialectic materialists that they are, the Harpies of the Brave New World believe that the next phase of humanity’s inevitable progression toward Utopia can only come when the existing Order is dismantled so new flowers can grow from the ashes. Hence, the Judeo-Christian values upon which the United States was founded must relentlessly be eroded, culturally and politically.
And all of this hinges upon the government issuing -- and enforcing -- an official position on a question that should be entirely personal and cultural: Born That Way. If you dare oppose a vital position that has been settled once-and-for-all by Our Betters, there will be hell to pay.
Under Obamanation, those who would destroy our way of life smell blood in the water. This is a zero-sum, all-or-nothing war that is being fought on all fronts by the Left. They understand what is at stake and it is time for those who think it is worth preserving to appreciate this also -- and act accordingly.
Then why do they have to recruit?

They’re just putting together a coalition of people who are angry failures that want to blame someone for the condition they are in. The left promises revenge, in exchange for their vote.
When the left finally gets to Stalin level control, you’re gonna see a lot of bewildered, dazed liberals staggering around, wondering why they are being arrested and shot just like everybody else.
Is a bisexual born that way, too? If there is a genetic explanation, why is it that there are an almost infinite variety of behaviors that fall between “gay” and “straight”?

There is no reason we (rightly) regard pedophiles as prosecutable and regular homos (laughably) as preferential.
Justice Scalia made that point in the Texas sodomy case several years ago. Texans in some areas had enacted laws to make sodomy illegal; the U.S. Supreme Court called this unconstitutionally discriminatory.
Justice Scalia told the majority of the court that all laws regarding sexual mores were established by voter consensus; and that if the court went down this (back) road, it meant that voters could effectively NEVER ban any particular sexual activity, so long as someone could claim such a law was unfair.
Pedophilia, in the law at least, is consensually determined. The court has already ruled, in the Texas case, that mere voter consensus is not enough to establish such limits.
At least that is my memory of the case and its implications.
Bruce Jenner was born with a mans body and contends he a female mind... so the gays accept your can be born sexually "missconfigured"... so why is it what the mind wants vs coming to terms with physical reality?
Birth defects happen all the time, I see no reason to think that sexuality might somehow be immune from defects.
Now, having said that, I also believe people who are not born defective in a sexual sense can become homosexual through some sort of trauma, usually some sort of rape that damages them mentally.
HOWEVER, show me a Progressive that will admit this. The crazies want it both ways. It's not a birth defect, but they can't control it, any more than if it was a harelip. Something is seriously wrong, here.
I live in Portland, despite the room temperature IQ of the locals. No one here questions the problem, and are even proud that they are too stupid to see any conflict. The magic spell is to wave a your wand with a small flick and say 'Inclusive'.
My own opinion is that they are all searching for the door to the alternate reality where lives the "Ultimate orgasm", like druggies searching for the Forever Buzz.
Interesting way of approaching the issue, but identical twin studies discredit the idea. Identical twins share the exact same dna and in the case where one male twin is homosexual less than 11% of the time is the other male twin homosexual. If it's not a biological imperative than choice and/or environment must be major factors.

Well, just mention to a homosexual that gene therapy may one day be able to permit parents to deselect homosexual likelihood from their child’s chromosome makeup. Watch how they behave when they find out you consider homosexuals to be defective.
