As far as I’m concerned, the only people with qualifications to talk about prepping are those who have survived a real disaster and learned from their mistakes. Probably 90% of the prepper information floating around out there doesn’t actually work and is a complete waste of time.
So define “a real disaster”. Is that a tornado? Hurricane? earthquake? Snowstorm? alien invasion?
Sure theres lots of bad advice. The worst one I saw today was that 90% of prepper information was bad.
So prepping is like death. Unless you have dead they is no use discussing it as you have no frame of reference?
We are so screwed.
That is pretty silly.
I doubt that the rioting in Philadelphia right now is creating the experts that will be explaining how to purify water, handle personal sanitation, solar equipment, generators, storing fuel, canning and shelf life of foods, and so on for us next month.
Most of prepping is the timeless and common knowledge that one needs food, water, and shelter, and such, so most prepping knowledge is of a technical type, what foods store best, how do you grind and use the wheat berries, how do you purify the water, and store it, how do you preserve gasoline from going bad, how do you recharge batteries with no electricity.

A discerning person who hasn’t experienced an emergency, can still prepare a good way after searching and reading what others did that worked.
However, there is nothing like experience that points out errors and better ways to prepare for live saving necessities. Every hurricane that came my way, pointed out small errors I made and ways to do something better.
