The Dark Politics of "White Privilege"

In the latest chapter of the left’s ongoing campaign to immortalize the grandfather clause of social justice, but more specifically to compensate America along racial lines, comes the politically convenient creation of “White Privilege”. Because the word “racism” obviously doesn’t denote enough singular intent to indict white America as the sole purveyors of hate, victimization has now evolved into blaming the pale subjects of suburbia as the greatest impetus for urban crime, poverty, civil unrest, and societal division. If “White Privilege” is truly designed to infer advantage or favoritism, then why did I grow up in a blue collar home, wear hand-me down-clothes, rarely have health insurance, never receive a college scholarship, was repeatedly turned down for loans or better paying jobs, didn’t qualify for public assistance, and was prosecuted for the smallest infractions of the law like any other American? And how is it remotely possible I would literally not change one of these inconvenient truths: those perceived “injustices” that made me respect my family all the more and instilled the values that made me the man I am today?

If the ignorant stereotype of “White Privilege” is meant to suggest millions of successful Americans didn’t sacrifice for their education, work tirelessly for a better wage, teach their kids right from wrong, and honor the country that affords them a level of opportunity few can fathom, then I’m assuming the even millions more of impoverished white Americans who did the exact same thing only to struggle daily also have your equal regard for the truth and economic justice? I find it incredibly ironic those minority entertainers, athletes and entrepreneurs making seven figure incomes are “getting paid” and the embodiment of the American dream, but those who fail to reach such levels of achievement are “slaves” and the victims of “White Privilege”? Just because everyone doesn’t get a blue ribbon, or enjoy the same blessings, doesn’t mean you’re a victim of discrimination or owed anything; it simply means life is unfair and excuses don’t come with a refund. In other words, you’re an anchor named envy and the biggest obstacle to your own success.

Detroit and Baltimore are hardly microcosms of blind hate and “White Privilege”, but rather a prime example of how liberalism breeds failure, dependence, and division by failing to use sound economic principles, the necessity to demand accountability from all citizens, in order to erect a vibrant and prosperous society. You can’t fault businesses for vacating urban centers that are rife with moral depravity, racial division, and decay – to refuse to excessively compensate unqualified or indifferent workers – no more than you would tirelessly endeavor to remove your family from those dangerous exploits. That’s common sense. Until people prove they’re ready to seek a better life through empowerment, education and hard work – to honor the law and respect all people regardless of the race or economic disposition – the results will never change. No obscene amount of money, no unending number of government bailouts, will change the status quo until the people themselves are willing to change first. You don’t free able bodied individuals from the ravages of anger and apathy by offering them a permanent crutch to compensate for their shortcomings or misfortunes; you help them realize the crutch is the very source of their ills.

The real tragedy in this progressive push to use race to eradicate personal responsibility, to replace equal opportunity with equal outcome, is that liberals have stereotyped and reduced minorities - specifically black Americans - into a helpless, sniveling, uncivil, irrational faction who are incapable of receiving an education, succeeding in the workplace, obeying the law, raising children within wedlock, building vibrant communities, respecting White America, and loving a country that does far more for their future prospects and civil rights than any African nation has ever done for its indigenous population. In other words, Democrats have disgraced generations of African Americans into believing their greatest ambition in life, or obligation if you will, is to be compensated via a menial government check and to repeatedly vote Democrat because a majority are not capable of anything more. Yes, how utterly racist and insulting. And if you may, how has either changed their lives for the better? Ensuring an endless cycle of poverty, an inexhaustible source of voter discontent, does nothing to help struggling minorities seize the wealth of opportunities America inherently provides. Such bankrupt propaganda merely keeps them enslaved to a legacy of victimization that no longer exists; except for the bankrolling the lavish aspirations of their new oppressors.

As a Christian who loves America and embraces people from all walks of life, I have grown tired of discussing race, refuting senseless propaganda, and defending the color of my skin. It literally tears at my soul and I find no joy in having to repeatedly speak negatively about the country I love or any sect of society that includes a number of my friends and associates. However, I also cannot sit idly and watch it burn in the name of immoral politics and false supposition. I don’t care whether you’re black or white, rich or poor, gay or straight, a Democrat or an atheist: if you show equal regard for my life and family, judge me solely according to my actions, I will unconditionally return such respect with equal vigor and appreciation. If I am truly the beneficiary of “White Privilege” and not the unique product of my efforts and struggles, then my critics are undoubtedly the festering product of “White Hatred”; or in presidential vernacular, racism. What else can you call such a malicious slight when the President of the United States, Barack Obama, doesn’t attend or send one delegate to the funerals of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Major General Harold Greene (killed in Action), or murdered American hero Chris Kyle, but somehow manages to deploy multiple delegates to the memorial services of Michael Brown and Freddie Gray; known convicted criminals and proud street thugs? What else can you label giving millions of illegal immigrants free welfare, healthcare and tuition – those non-citizens who have little regard for our laws or survival – at the cost of homeless veterans and those taxpayers struggling to make ends meet? Non-White Privilege?

Instead of focusing on those decent, hard-working Americans who do everything in their power to make the world a better place, minority or otherwise, an antagonistic media continues to give preference to the brokers of race in order to drive a wedge in the institutions of logic, but most notably, the streets of America. “We the People” can either strive to eliminate these numerous misconceptions and disingenuous ploys of political parasites, punish those who incite violence or invoke racism where none exist – often at the expense of real discrimination – or this nation can continue to succumb to the historically destructive exploits of distrust, hatred and discord. When color is king, the greatest victim is the truth. America doesn’t need more politicians, it needs a conscience.

‘White Privilege’ is earned by the sweat of the brow. Anybody can have White Privilege.

‘Black Privilege’ is the welfare state, funded by people of all colors who are not too lazy to work.

I am white. I grew up in a broken home, had a deadbeat dad, and was even abused in all sorts of ways by my stepfather. I’m sure people “looked right through” me on a number of occasions, as I wasn’t rich or part of the well heeled crowd.

Yes, a lot of that bothered me — But I would tend to turn it all in rather than blame anyone or anything in society for my ills. I focused on self improvement and just generally worked my butt off, paid my way through school in spite of all the negatives telling me I couldn’t .... At one point I ended up in therapy to get some rewiring done .... But that was ok and was also a growth process.

I used what I had .... I’m now very successful with a great family and have been married almost 30 yrs. I didn’t get there by thinking of myself as a victim. Both my husband and I took advantage of all this country has to offer. People from foreign backgrounds come here every day and do this. What is wrong with this AA community that they can’t do the same?? They’re fricking idiots, that’s why!!

I looked at the customs on this site from West Africa. Striking, isn’t it? There was certainly the slave trade on the Ivory Coast. I do not know which tribes sold members of other tribes into slavery. Hoping to draw out someone who knows more about it.

I did some reading about the slave trade to try to find out if the ship my ancestors came over on in 1771 was also used in the slave trade.

Civilization is fragile. It only works if young men are “civilized” by their families and the culture. The left does not want to “impose” civilization by “stigmatizing” out of wedlock births, absent fathers, etc. The black family worked for a while and still does where it is tried!

Also the young black criminals attack in groups, and identify with gangs, etc. gang == tribal?

An extraordinary privilege accrues to those who take responsibility for their own lives rather than blaming others for where they are and expecting others to get then to where they want to be. Living a life of self-control and self-discipline definitely confers an advantage. A solid work ethic goes a long way toward acquiring a privilege. A positive attitude and appreciative spirit will promote a body above those of a complaining and ungrateful way. Being pleasant and friendly will serve you a lot better than being sullen or belligerent.

“Why can’t they do the same?”

Like you and the author of the page, I am sick to death hearing about “white privilege” etc. The implication is of course that your pain and struggles and those of our ancestors mean less than nothing.

Last night I decided, they need to fix it themselves. To proclaim that the “white man” has to fix Baltimore, which is 67% black, would be racist. It would mean they are incapable of governing themselves. They have a black majority and leadership. What do they want from us, anyway? To impose order? no. To invest in their communities? no, that is gentrification, disadvantaging people who already live there. Just what DO THEY WANT??

Just someone to blame. I am not listening to that drivel any more. Black America, fix Baltimore yourselves if you truly want it fixed.

There is a logical fallacy in using a term like “white privilege.”. It is so vague as to be meaningless. How does one defend oneself against such a vague accusation?

The answer is to deny the opponent the use of the term. There IS no such thing as white privilege. But there is plenty of BLACK privilege these days, when justice can be steamrolled by frenzied mobs of thugs and looters, and when a system can be forced to be willfully color-conscious. And when a double standard prefers black lawbreakers over white serfs.
