I know a lot of wealthy people. Some are “lottery winners” who have money only because of insider government connections (people like the Obamas). Most are harder working than the vast majority of Americans - small business owners who work 70+ hours a week, or doctors/lawyers who worked harder than anyone else in college and now work 60 hours a week. Except for the crony capitalists (Obama’s rich followers), these are not lottery winners, they are people who earn every dime they have.

King Barack is just echoing what his base believes....nobody earned anything. All the wealthy people were given/inherited their money from their wealthy parents....or they stole it from poor people.

Believe it or not that last sentiment is very popular with many members of the ignorati i.e. Obama's base. Yes, that's right, rich people got rich from taking their money from poor people. How they did it not revealed.

The message of classism has become tired, and this particular messenger is being viewed differently now than he was mere months ago. This is what I gather from liberals that I know personally.

If I were a Democrat pol, I would want this guy off the stage. Now.

The country is hopeful for someone to come along and articulate a different path. That’s the only silver lining I can see in this very dark cloud.

What about blacks who have hit it big?

Oprah Winfrey is a billionaire. So is Magic Johnson. etc. etc.

Will they be shedding some dough? I could use a new TV.

They can moan and they can bleat. They can complain and yell bias, racism and preference, privilege and priority.

They can take all the money and redistribute it but they cannot take the intelligence, drive and determination and do anything except to diminish the drive and determination and let the intelligence go fallow and wasted.

In the end, those that want all this want the power to accomplish it, mainly for the sake of the power and control itself. I am reminded of ants and termites for some reason.

I paid my own way through college, graduated with a double major, in four years, repaid my loans on time, in full. I worked summers at a hot glass factory in Okla without AC.

My husband graduated from same college and went to work as a chemical engineer, he recently retired after 42 years, working LONG hours 6 or 7 days a week. Often he had to drive to Houston, one hour or more each way. He was up and on the road before the sun came up and got home after dark. He worked his butt off.

No lottery winners here, just hard working, tax paying, law abiding US citizens!!!!!!! And I never saw Obama here helping us!~

We still had to mow our lawn, we paint our own house inside and out. Yesterday he spent the entire day cleaning out the garage and getting things ready for a charity truck to pick up today. He is the hardest working man I know, and has only played golf one time in the past ten or twenty YEARS...

He's probably talking about trust-fund babies, the children of wealthy families.

However, the American Dream pre-supposes that people work hard and make money for the purpose of making life better for their children.

To the liberal, the problem is that people are improving the lives of their own children only, and not everybody's children.

Before you can take more money, you at least have to make a hand-waving gesture toward spending the money you already have efficiently.

Is there anybody, anywhere, who thinks the government is spending the money it already has efficietly?

Early Childhood Education could be fully funded with the money you could sweep up from the corners at the Department of Education, or by taking a third of the travel and training budget of the Department of the Interior.

“Hard work” on its own won’t make you really rich. Working your ass off for someone else or running a business with lots of competition does not wealth make.

It’s all about chance connections and/or thinking of an idea before anyone else.

I’m a self-made 1%-er and could have done it several times. I was just born with a knack for ideas and don’t feel I (and all my descendants) deserve to live like kings just because I thought of a few things.

So I definitely do feel like a lottery winner and give away each time I see a good cause. But I don’t advocate theft by government

I wonder if this includes Teresa Heinz-Kerry or George Soros or Bill and Hitlery? (oops, I forgot that they told us about how dirt poor they were).

If the wealthy are the winners of life’s lottery then most of the tickets must be bought through education and hard work with a few bought through crony political connections.

He implies hard workers are just lucky. When I was a kid, I said out loud to my father when we passed a large estate of a rich man, “He sure is lucky”. My father replied, “If you work 20 hours a day for 20 years, you can be lucky, too.”

African Americans are in the top 5% of blacks in the world if you compare their incomes to blacks in Africa or elsewhere in the diaspora (Haiti, etc.). Does Obama consider them “lottery winners”? All they did was be born in the right country.

The comments were made Tuesday at a poverty summit at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where, alluding to his longstanding proposal to raise taxes on “carried interest,” Obama said, “If we were able to close that loophole, I can now invest in early childhood education that will make a difference. That’s…where the question of compassion and ‘I’m my brother’s keeper’ comes into play. And if we can’t ask from society’s lottery winners to just make that modest investment, then, really, this conversation is for show.”

Hussein is just quoting a similarly detestable leftist, Dick Gephardt, who said in 1995 as an introduction to his own plan for raising taxes:

"Those who have prospered and profited from life's lottery have a moral obligation to share their good fortune."

Would yins consider people from Mt. Lebanon as "society's lottery winners?"

‘I’m my brother’s keeper’

I love it when liberals use this Biblical phrase. 'Keeper' in that story in Hebrew means prison warden, slave master, or nanny to a small child.

It perfectly sums up the liberal mindset.
