The latest dispatch from the United Kingdoms ongoing campaign to eliminate all forms of armed self-defense seems too incredible to be true. Unfortunately, after tracking down the origin of a publicly distributed statement regarding self-defense products on the countrys Ask the Police website, we can confirm that British subjects continue to live at the mercy of their potential attackers. Even to the point of baffling absurdity.
The statement appears in the Frequently Asked Questions section of www.askthe.police.uk a site that is operated by the Police National Legal Database. Information provided by the PNLD and its site are used by local police constabularies to help inform the public.
The question at issue asks, Are there any legal self defence products that I can buy? Succinctly epitomizing the sad state of natural rights in Great Britain, the first sentence states, The only fully legal self defence product at the moment is a rape alarm.
And to add even more insult to human dignity, the statement cautions subjects against the use of nearly any other type of defense product, and reads like an appeal for victims to graciously suffer criminal violence. The answer makes clear You must not get a product which is made or adapted to cause a person injury. Possession of such a product in public (and in private in specific circumstances) is against the law. So even in the sanctity of ones home, the statement seems to suggest that care for violent offenders outweighs the rights of potential victims to be safe and secure against attack.
The statement then addresses the legality of inert dye sprays that merely mark ones attacker for later identification; in contrast to self-defense sprays like mace or pepper spray that inflict pain in order to halt an attack. The site is so concerned with the well-being of violent criminals, that in the context of dye sprays, it states,be aware that even a seemingly safe product, deliberately aimed and sprayed in someone's eyes, would become an offensive weapon because it would be used in a way that was intended to cause injury.
Whether its this detestable advice, police warning a woman not to display a knife in order to ward off intruders, warrantless firearm storage inspections, or desperate subjects being forced to defend their lives and property with cricket and baseball bats during riots, the UK government appears intent on wiping out any remaining vestiges of the traditional right to self-defense. Wed like to say that we wont allow ourselves to be shocked by the next ludicrous episode from across the pond, but history shows theyll somehow manage to astound.
Shoot ‘em.
Rape alarms come in many calibers including .22, .38 and .45!
If someone attacks you, because you fear for your life, end theirs.
That's actually a clever idea. If you keep a baseball bat in the corner of your office, you will get comments, none of them good. But if you hang a cricket bat on the wall, it becomes a curiosity only, sort of like a picture of a bowling team.
I think that France is missing out on a money making opportunity here.
Export small white surrender flags to all of England’s population.
The Brits are just respecting the religious rights of rapists.
There is some merit to what you are saying... I at least agree with the 'unthinking and irrational' part. However, I suspect that there is still a component of "I won't get caught" thinking that is going on... replace that with "it is absolutely guaranteed that I'll get caught" and I suspect that it would have some impact.
Here you go - no messy heavy hand guns for our UK friends - just a light weight wearable device with a pull string:

He said that when an Italian kid feels the need to mug someone, he travels way across town to where he's not known. Then he does the job.
But when a feral youth feels the need to mug someone, he just hangs out near his house and waits for any target of opportunity. They really don't think ahead.
I'm not quite sure what point I'm trying to make here. Just thought I'd pass along an interesting story.
Oh, and one more thing.I'm a veteran inner city high school teacher. We have cameras in the hallways. They have done nothing to reduce the violence. Nothing. If the kids want to fight, they're gonna fight.
But the cameras do help with the prosecutions later. So while they don't deter the violence, they sure help in the courtroom.
Hmm. Looks like something really easy to prank on people.. run up, pull string, drop in pocket. I’m assuming the extremely annoying, ear-damaging 120db noise is impossible to turn off, or what would be the point of an alarm?
Clayton Williams was making a stupid off-the-cuff joke-—at a BBQ at his ranch down by Alpine IIRC——and was stupid enough not to realize that the reporters there-—all demorats, of course-— would use anything they could as a cudgel against him.
BTW, an armed robber in Odessa, Texas yesterday afternoon tried to “rape” the cash tills at a check cashing business. The business owner rape alarmed the robber with up to six rounds. The police interviewed the thug’s corpse in thee weeds at the side of the business. I believe he was a black yute.
I love a happy ending.
“what would be the point of an alarm?”
What’s the point in the first place -— rapist ear plugs on sale now! The very idea that 120 db could damage a rapist’s ears is offensive and goes against the very spirit of protecting crimals from harm!
Well, it seems the dearly departed stickup punk was not a yute but was in fact 37 year old Andrew Mayweather. He pepper sprayed and punched the 59 year old victim, stole a money bag and fled on a bicycle. Victim chased after him and they got into a shootout in an empty lot next to Auto Zone on 8 th street. It seems actual working guy could shoot better. Maybe Mr thief was holding his piece sideways.
Two actual yutes broke into a woman’s apartment in Midland this spring to rob her. After they threatened to kill her youngster she was able to obtain a butcher knife and practice her Top Chef skills on their torsos. One of them expired. And yes, I’ m afraid that 18 year old really was one of Al Sharpton’s admirers. Don’t know about the lady in the apt.
Well, having the right to defend your life and the right to acquire the tools to do so would push the horrifying idea that you, not the government, own your life, so I guess I can understand why the government would want to quash the very idea of ever defending yourself.
I’d be concerned about the cricket bat turning on impact, and hitting the adversary with the flat rather than the edge. That’s not a problem with a baseball bat.
Going to war with either one is better than cringing in the corner, whimpering ... ;’} Perhaps a contest could be held ... all we need is a bunch of cooperative bad-guys.
Just got back from a trek that included Odessa. Mr. Criminal stuck up the guy bringing cash into the business. Last Friday of the month you know. He leaped upon his getaway bike and pedaled off into the lot next door behind Auto Zone. Victim pursued him and the crimal mastermind cut across a lot on his bike with the ground soft and vegetation actually growing so it slowed him down.
News types reported six shots exchanged betwen the competitors. I’m pretty sure that Mayweather had a semi-auto because on the tube I saw a cop working the grass with a metal detector.
When visiting the scene I enjoyed the orange paint :<)
