NEW YORK — Dollar Tree said Friday that it has agreed to sell 330 of its stores to the private equity firm Sycamore Partners in order to get regulatory approval for its $8.5 billion purchase of Family Dollar.

The Chesapeake, Virginia-based company said earlier this month that it would sell the stores, but it had not disclosed the buyer. It didn’t say how much Sycamore Partners will pay for the stores, which bring in about $500 million in annual revenue. It also didn’t disclose which stores are being sold....

They’re selling them, not closing them.

We have Dollar Tree and 99 Cents Only stores around here. The latter blows the former away. They have all the same stuff, plus a big section of fresh produce and baked goods.

“I don’t have to get all dressed up, like I’m going to Wal-Mart or something” Well ain’t that nice. Hey! Maybe we’ll see Queen Elizabeth at The Dollar Palace!

These are not remainderers or surplus stores; they carry a focused inventory including a number of Larry The Cable Guy’s Git-R-Done foods. And the stuff really does sell for a dollar and is useful as long as you aren’t too rough with it.

Fresh produce and baked goods! That’s good news, especially about the fresh produce. Many areas become little Food Deserts, where no big retail grocer wants to invest due to theft.

I do love Wally World though.

My best bet is that school teachers are a big part of the dollar stores’ business.

When I was a supervisor at the unemployment office I’d buy many motivational “prizes” (especially for employee training sessions) at Dollar Tree because it was coming out of my pocket.

Hey, I get all my cleaning products there to include laundry soap.

Also a good selection of toiletries.

Sure some is junk, but just be a wise shopper.

I love Dollar Tree. Not sure why they want this other store unless it’s to sell higher priced items. I think Dollar Tree prices made WalMart come out with it’s 88 cent health and beauty items. (Acetaminophen, Clotrimazole, ankle supports, etc.)

Me, too. We have a local Dollar Tree. Love it. Very clean and great employees. Can buy enough groceries there to get me by. Also have great school supplies for my grandson, cleaning supplies and more and more products made in the USA.

What will the price be marked down to for the going out of business sale at Dollar Tree?

Love Dollar Tree! I buy many items there such as:

Fries - $2.99 at reg. grocery store/$1 @ Dollar Tree
Alkaline batteries - $4-5 at reg. store/$1 @Dollar Tree
Sunday paper - $2 at reg. store/$1 @Dollar Tree
Straw hat- $5 at reg. store/$1 @Dollar Tree

And on occasion, Dollar Tree will carry name brand items such as Oil of Olay or As Seen on TV products or DVDs- but those go fast so you have to be lucky.
