No political nice speak here, and it drives the establishment insane
It started with presidential candidate Donald Trump’s comments on illegal immigration, which drew huge criticism from the Republican establishment and the media. The unfortunate murder of Kate Steinle recently by an illegal in San Francisco quieted some of the criticism, but the debate then shifted to the legality of sanctuary cities to avoid acknowledging that there was some merit to Trump’s comments.
And now Donald Trump has challenged the “war hero” designation of Arizona Senator John McCain just because he was a prisoner of war. Aside from the fact that the media reports did not give the full context of his comments (that’s what they do), the Republican establishment and the media have quickly extended what he said to have insulted all veterans. Unfortunately for them, veteran groups are not buying the lie and have issued statements extolling the past support Mr. Trump has shown publicly and financially toward our veterans and our current military.
Critics of Mr. Trump didn’t bother to point out that Senator McCain referred to Arizona supporters of Trump as “crazies”, when nearly 15,000 attendees showed up for a Trump rally and half of them could not even get into the event. Obviously, supporting a non-establishment candidate is considered crazy. Well, crazy is looking better and better to a whole lot of people.

Trump clarified REPEATEDLY that McCain was a war hero...
Many of you think he said he wasn’t...
Do I need to copy and paste for you as well...or, are you going to continue to believe that I am MSM trolling since you can’t answer?

All of the Trump people come on here saying “this is why we love Trump!” He says what he means! He won’t cave...
And yet, he said the same thing as EVERYONE else...
And then, you all blast Cruz for saying he is a War hero while refusing to admit your guy did the same...
If NOBODY cared, this wouldn’t be a big deal...
What I don’t get is, what articulable actions made by McCain justify calling him “A Hero”?
He was shot down. He surrendered and was taken prisoner. He was tortured and mistreated and (in his own words) is ashamed of things he said/did for his captors.
Now, I do not want to make light of that, but after he punched out of his aircraft, the rest of it was beyond his control (except maybe the part about providing info to his captors). That was a horrible experience that I wouldn’t wish on *anyone*, but to call him a “Hero” for it seems to water down the definition of “Hero”. He’s a veteran. He deserves the respect and thanks for raising his hand and taking the oath.
If you simply compare him to others who are unquestionably deemed “Heroes”, then he quickly pales in comparison. I know some Heroes who went *well* above and beyond the call of duty; who *voluntarily* made sacrifices on behalf of others and who paid a dear price in taking the initiative to either protect or save others with zero regard for their own personal safety and well being.
So I will give McCain the respect and credit due for taking the oath, but I have to fall short of agreeing he is a “Hero” or did anything “Herioc” that countless other servicemen also did. I want the word “Hero” to actually *mean* something beyond getting captured & mistreated by the enemy. Those are POWs and I will give them all due respect for surviving.
Similarly, consider that I have lost all respect for the Nobel Prize since they gave it out like halloween candy to 0bama. If McCain actually did something heroic, I’m all ears. Until then, he’s a veteran like me and a POW survivor like whole bunch of other folks and we all have our share of trophies and scars from our service, some more than others. That does not make us all “Heroes”.
Just my opinion and opinions may vary.

It isn’t what I think Trump said...my question is for those Trump supporters on this site....

Here is the problem with that though...
Even on FR, you have Trumpers continuing to praise Trump for saying he WASN’T a War hero...
And yet, you are quoting the author below as saying Trump DID say he was a hero (notwithstanding the rest of the comments on McCain).
So, I am asking his supporters, which is it?
And, if he thinks McCain is a war hero, did he cave?
So, why then do Trump supporters PRAISE Trump for saying McCain isn’t a War Hero...
