What are your all-time favorite TV commercials?
one man's opinion...

Posted on 07/21/2015 8:42:39 AM PDT by ken5050

This is just to take a little breather from all things Trump, Obama's cave to Iran, and the sadness over 5 brave Americans getting massacred by a home-grown Islamic terrorist.

So then, what are YOUR favorite TV commercials? And enjoy!!!

The Geico Abraham Lincoln is the funniest ad of all time, and I go back to TV in the 50s.

Frank Zappa’s TV commercial for the Roxy and Elsewhere album in 1974.

That and the Ban deodorant spray commercial where a dirty bandito on horseback lifts up his poncho and gives it a shot.

Oh, and the old Hai Karate aftershave commercial where a nerdy looking guy goes nuts in an apartment after using it...

And don’t forget the one where the same guy who played Oddjob in “Goldfinger” is on his way down the sidewalk coughing up a storm, chopping at trees an taking the heads off of statues until he arrives on his own doorstep where his dutiful wife greets him with a tablespoon of Vick’s Formula 44. Ahh-sooo!

"Don Draper came up with it."

I wouldn't condemn him to hell just for that. What an awful tune.

"Jack-in-the Box commercial"

I don't think JITB chain reached across the country. Never saw an ad for that chain.

How about Clara Peller asking...

"Where's The Beef?"

I often like Jack in the Box commercials. I think I laughed every time I saw the tiny cowboys herding cows the size of Schnauzers in JACK IN THE BOX MINI SIRLOIN BURGERS.

This Mattel spot was made during my lifetime and one of my good friends was a proud owner of the product. But given the vast changes in our culture over the intervening years, it might as well be from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Or perhaps the eternal Tootsie Pop question:

"How Many Licks Does It Take...?"

Or the best of all...Vic Tayback in the Parkay commercial;

"It's Not Butter, It's Parkay"

I remember a 7-Up commercial from the late 50s or early 60s. The line was, “When friends drop in.....serve 7-Up!”.....the video shows a mob attacking a castle with torches and pitchforks.

I enjoyed watching that commercial. I have tried to find it but cannot.

I really loved the Straight Talk commercial where “everybody gets their own little baby CHICKEN on their own little baby PLATE.”

I have a vague collection of a Dr. Pepper commercial long ago that I thought was hilarious - about a Red or Communist party. Also long ago, there was a pizza commercial (forgot which company) about a meat pizza being delivered accidentally to a group of vegetarians.

Now this is difficult...there are so many great commercials over the decades!

One commercial that used to great me up were the Bob Uecker Miller Lite commercials. In particular was the one where he’s at the ball game and security asks him to move to another seat. Bob responds: “Oh, must be the front row!” The commercial ends with him sitting in the “nose bleed” seats. :-D

I had a friend, who had the unfortunate last name of Figneito (I think I am spelling that right).

He was a little round, so, the Fig Newton Song was very popular around him.

He took it in stride and was actually a really good friend. Wish I knew what happened to him.
