As I was on the highway Friday, I danced across the AM radio dial and internet streams to hear many of the Republican faithful begin to throw dirt in what they believe is a dead Trump for President campaign. Saw the responses, the polls etc (Trump still leading). Then I wake up Saturday morning to see I prediction I made earlier this week come true. So now, I write this stern warning to all my conservative brethren:

DON’T DUMP TRUMP YET.

My biggest fear about Trump is that he’ll go mushy in the general or once he thinks he has a clear road to the general and I fear too many conservatives are too quickly taking the word of a showman out of desperation for any respite after years of Obama.

I certainly hope Trump can and will walk his talk.

We are in complete agreement. I don’t want to see him as our next president but we desperately need him, if only to keep on the front burner the issues that need to be called out in front of God and everybody, protecting the “real” candidates from the flack they would get from doing the same.

And the one that is setting himself up to benefit from it the most is Cruz. I am extremely happy about that.

Is Fox News doing to Trump what they accused the left-wing media did to Hillary in 2008?

He’s making noise that needs to be heard.
If he gets crossways with some media slut.. too damned bad.

I’m partial to Cruz.. but Trump is slapping the folks what need slapped.

And I applaud that slapping.

And ten million people who would not have watched the debate did because of Donald Trump.
That's ten million extra people who would not have seen and heard Cruz, Carson, etc. unfiltered except for Donald Trump being in the campaign.

Throw him overboard in November if you must LOL!
Meanwhile take advantage!

Trump is not going anywhere. He’s got everyone of these clowns on the run.

I actually agree with you. He is a buffer at the moment.

Just wait until we are stuck picking down through the rest trying to pick which establishment RINO is the next best of the least because we have no other choices. Would any of them matter?

This is the last chance to fight this immigration disaster, maybe the last time voting could make any difference. Once Trump is gone, Cruz could rise and they will stomp on him just like they have done to Trump. It is early yet.

Once Cruz in gone, well ....

Trump isn’t a politician. Don’t expect him to act like one.

Trump is the strategy.
Cruz is the candidate.

Thanks for the excellently written opinions and observations.

What do you think with all that has happened to him in the past 2 days that if the barrage keeps going he'll go 3rd party and if so, isn't that just a free ticket to Hillary?

Exactly
De ja vu
They picked off our candidates one by one last time til Romney and or McCain was the last man standing.
Cruz is next. Then Carson etc
I saw too what was happening. I agree wholeheartedly

Don’t know if Trump would be good or bad as President, but in my opinion would be a thousand times better the what we presently have.

First order of business...it’s August fully six months before the first vote is cast.

Let Trump be Trump. He is what he is and “all will be revealed” in time because that is his nature.

He is comfortable in the tabloids for good or bad. He’s been there almost daily for nearly 30 years. I think he knows how to play them like a harp from hell. So, to get all wadded up over today’s comment doesn’t take the long view. Again...we are six months from a vote being cast. How can Trump’s campaign implode this soon? It can’t. That is wishful thinking. The mediots think they are running a rigged game of Three Card Monty and Trump is some tourist from Arkansas. They forget that he’s the master of media.

Do I want Trump as president? I don’t know. I’m certainly not going to say “NO” at this point. OTOH, you can say “why not...he can’t do any worse than Obama, which I think my 9 year old could do better than Obama.

The media is in “horserace” and protect Hillary modes.

So we’ll see how Trump plays this out. Kelly is a vacuous whore who’s true colors showed up on Thursday night. We already knew Chris Wallace’s political stripes and Brett Baer is a nitwit nancy-boy like Shep Smith.

If we give up on him now, they’ll perceive us as weak and pc. Giving up so early means they can shove Jeb down our throats at a later date. Is Fiorina (unknown to her) a stalking horse for Jeb?

Its Trump and Cruz for the win as far as I’m concerned.I just don’t see the rest having the guts to say what needs to be said.As for his remarks regarding schmegan I will say they were right on.The rinos dumping on Trump will only make him stronger and support for him grow.I hope they keep it up.

I like Trump, but I would change some things in his campaign.

If you’re gonna call opponents names, get a little more classy & sting their true nature. Instead of calling someone a “dummy”, call them a “baby parts salesman”, “greedy corruptocrat”, or “attack kitten”, or a thousand other applicable names that sting deep. Surely Trump has some zinger writers.

Widen his loud message beyond immigration, not to take anything away from it. He needs to raise hell about the Iran deal. He could end that deal if he tried hard enough, for which he would get total credit w/o even being in office. That topic not only terrifies the Rats, but so too the “get along to go along” Pubs. Americans know this is a bad deal by a good margin.

Jobs. Did they even mention it in the debate? Trump should be the jobs candidate. Loudly. Raking his opponents with our poor economy, most of whom are guilty of making it happen or letting it happen.

Lastly, get rid of the pout mouth. It makes him look pouty. The madder he gets, the further his lips poke out. It’s a tell. Get some surgery, or botox, or something.
