Oh.

Yes. I see what you mean.

I guess advocating something common sense would be seen as heretical in our current environment.

Well, heck, he's just gonna fix everything on his first day as President.

Out of curiosity Eric Pode of Croydon, and without looking, can you tell me what the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I is?

“Now I’m confused.”

Oh, yes indeed you are. More than you know.

“He’s(dsc) stumping for Trump”

No I’m not. I’m stumping for the truth. If you bothered to read my posts, or even ask me, you’d have discovered that I don’t trust Trump. I mentioned the film “Elmer Gantry.” However, I am offended by the people running around here telling lies about both Trump and his supporters. If you want to persuade people that Trump is the wrong man, then use the *truth* to persuade. Especially here.

“Trump needs to do more to call attention to his courageous service under fire then. I was unaware he served.”

Quite so. He *should* not be eligible. However, he is.

“He “actually got lucky”. Not because dad had money or connections or anything.”

Were you there? You sound like “BlackLivesMatter” when you start blathering about people buying their way out of the military. Draft boards came from the same communities as draftees. That visibility ruled out, for the most part, the sort of corruption you assume to have been common. The son of the wealthy chairman of the Oklahoma University Medical School Admissions Committee went to Viet Nam as a LRRP. I’m sure that thousands on FR have similar stories.

Blacks were in infantry units in numbers lower than their distribution in the population. They were also wounded and killed in lower numbers than one would expect.

What you just told me is that Trump applied for and got the same deferments that were available to everyone. Then, when they drew the numbers, he got lucky. Big deal. I’ve seen worse behavior on this thread.

“You might want to respond to Black Agnes. He/She thinks I’m the one who thinks that those who didn’t serve are cowards. And no, I don’t think you said that. Not directly anyway.”

It is so disheartening to see that sort of thing here. I used to see it all the time when I posted where libtards were allowed, but it hasn’t been common here until recent years.

How would Black Agnes get the idea that anyone said that everyone is a coward who did not serve? Did someone tell her that it had been said? If so, why didn’t she check? Or did she simply fail to understand what was said?

More ominously, does she know it wasn’t said, but hope that she can create the impression that it was? Is she one of the false-flag posters, or just careless with the truth?

There was enough about her in the “following the money” link to turn me against her.

BTW, I intend to use the 2 Sundance links I replied to you with in my future posts regarding the election. It’s a brilliant expose’ on how little “we the people” actually matter to our overlords.

I can’t remember the posters name at the moment, but someone here at Free Republic actually stated the other day just how great the Citizens United decision was for “our side”. I think it was anything but.

Hiding donors and their contributions behind Super-Pac’s is a sure fire way to guarantee corruption in the process, even when they’re supporting MY candidate. If you want to donate, fine, but who you are and how much you gave ought to be disclosed.

I really hope people here will follow those links as I can’t stress how much they expose how dirty the system has gotten. There’s no longer a doubt in my mind that the Republican party is just as corrupt as the Democrats, and neither of them have OUR best interests in mind.

“Why not just do what every other country does? Enforce our borders and existing immigration laws. I think that would do the trick.”

Well, of course, not every county does that. France, Germany, and some other countries seem to be going down the toilet.

We should enforce our laws, certainly, but getting out of this mess will require extraordinary measures.

Oh yeah. That’s me. False flag poster. Here for ~15 years and just now revealing my true self /s

I’ve seen posts indicating sort of contempt for people who went to college during the nam draft to avoid said draft.

Lots of people did that. Not just the rich. It was pretty obvious to my dad and his brothers that nam was just an excuse to draft the poor and send them to war and be killed for...what did we accomplish there again?

Their baby brother was younger by over a decade. Dad and the oldest brothers were either drafted or signed up. Between the 4 of them they figured the family had given more than enough to the military. Daddy did Korea as did the next youngest. Next 2 joined the Navy to avoid being army grunts. One of them was chief petty officer on a boomer the other was shore patrol in okinawa.

Nothing personal to either of you guys mind you. But my uncle who cleverly avoided the draft by having successful older brothers with enough cash to pay for his college tuition would make a perfectly good President. Smart as a whip and loves this country.

“what exactly did we accomplish in vietnam?”

1. Generally speaking, opposing evil is the right thing to do.

2. The Viet Nam war moved up the collapse of the Soviet Union by ten years, according to Soviet Analysts.

3. Militarily, we saved the South Vietnamese from being reduced under a murderous communist tyranny. This victory was subsequently undone by Ted Kennedy and other traitors against the human race—all elected by the demonrats.

I have to go do real-world stuff now. Won’t be replying for a while.

“2. The Viet Nam war moved up the collapse of the Soviet Union by ten years, according to Soviet Analysts.”

Possibly. I’ll posit ‘inadvertently’ by most of those in charge on our side however.

We (the ptb’s) fought in vietnam like the current crop of gop pres candidates fight in the general. With a great lack of will and motivation. They do, but they don’t really MEAN it. It’s a money making endeavor for them that someone else takes the risk for...(ie bullets, death, wound)

No disrespect to the grunts who got shot at and died there.

‘Red Kennedy’ isn’t someone other than us btw. The US government abandoned the south vietnamese. I have my own theory why we were there but the ‘save vietnam from communism’ was only a platitude floated to the masses, not the reason the elites were there.

From what I’ve seen coming out of the armed forces and reaching for the Presidency lately, there seems to be some lacking. It’s about the most asinine thing I’ve read in some time actually.

Not a problem. When in doubt, use sarc.

Because he has moved to the right,

Has he? Or has he just figured out the right things to say? My problem is that pretty much all we have is his words to go by - there is not much of a record of real actions that demonstrate a commitment to constitutional conservative principles.

Was that at Teddy Kennedy’s wedding? Context is important. This picture could have been taken after a SOTU address, a Rose Garden ceremony, etc. Without context, it is impossible to judge if you are making a false equivalency here.

Once again, what is the context of the picture? What was the event? Why were they both there? It looks like Clinton is in Reagan’s office and gave him a jar of Jelly Bellies - not exactly a case of Reagan inviting Clinton to his wedding or any other social gathering...

The point of posting that photo is to demonstrate that it means nothing and that this exercise is all a bunch of silliness. You can dig up pictures of any politician shaking hands or otherwise yukking it up with their political opponents. If I found a picture of Ted Cruz standing next to Nancy Pelosi, which I’m sure exists out there somewhere, does that mean we can no longer trust Ted Cruz? Of course not.

All you need do is tax the billions of dollars Mexicans send home every year.

Last time I checked, the Constitution says that all bills related to taxation and spending have to start in the House. It says nothing about the president being able to impose such a tax by himself, even if the president is named Trump...

> “Even his idea to build a fence and send the Mexican government the bill to pay for it is completely moronic.”

You nobodies calling an extremely successful business person moronic is projecting.

Trump already explained many times that Mexico is going to be taxed greatly for what it brings into this country and those taxes are going to pay for border security.

He also said he will impose a tax of 35% on Ford Motors if they building their 1.2 billion plant in Mexico and not the USA.

But keep on with the ‘moronic’ cries. It’s fun to watch how truly stupid the Trump/Cruz tolls can be, Because people on FR are a lot smarter than the trolls think and they can see exactly what the trolls are trying to do and watch the trolls fail miserably trying to do it.
