"Has he? Or has he just figured out the right things to say? My problem is that pretty much all we have is his words to go by - there is not much of a record of real actions that demonstrate a commitment to constitutional conservative principles."

The man is not in office. Just how, other than by his words--and those words in the most visible actions of his highly visible life, are likely to be what he is remembered for--is a non office holder supposed to prove his beliefs?

All right. You are not convinced; but why act like you are convinced that he is not sincere. Why do we set up artificial impediments to effecrtive new allies.

Trump is saying things that whether he eventually wins or loses, are waking people up; are drawing people to the right. Win or lose, he is clearly an asset in the fight--a fight that we have been losing, as the whipped curs in the party betray their promises at the last election.

We can be super choosy, or we can take the fight to those who have betrayed their oaths. I choose to take the fight to those who have continually betrayed their oaths, and who give every indication of not changing their coarse of betrayal.

Trump is not perfect, of course not. But right now his bandwagon is the best option we have.

I don't know if he is sincere or not - that is the problem. And I'm not prepared to support him simply based on the HOPE that he is sincere. The stakes are too high for that, and we saw what happened the last time someone was elected on HOPE.

Win or lose, he is clearly an asset in the fight--a fight that we have been losing, as the whipped curs in the party betray their promises at the last election.

I am not arguing that Trump should not be in the race, although I find many of his tactics crass and obnoxious. But I am concerned that so many of his supporters are ready to attack anyone who even questions his past or his positions. I am concerned that they are going to alienate so many other conservatives that if Trump DOES get the nomination, supporters of other candidates will not support him in the general election.

Donald Trump has done many things to support veterans. One example from the 1980s is that he launched a commission and funded the New York City Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza.

But the biggest sign of his sincerity is that he is putting his own personal fortune at risk, he’s putting his own money on the line for his country and forgoing hundreds of millions that he could have instead. Such acts show more than anything how sincere he is.
