Ron Paul spoke a few truths of his own exposing corruption, poor money policy and more. He was very right on these things, but though he spoke the truth I did not embrace him. That made me a enemy of the Constitution according to Paul’s supporters. I see the same now Trump speaks truths to be sure, but he does not beguile me, but because he doesn’t I am now labeled GOPe and worse by his supporters to the point I see little deference between the two movements.

Your bad Ron Paul experience shouldn’t force you into a corner in fear of anyone outside the establishment. The establishment is the enemy. Don’t you have enough proof yet?

Who finally gave up his Canadian citizenship in 2014.

*******************

In your opinion, does the fact that Ted Cruz had dual citizenship disqaualify
him from the presidency?

Cruz’s mother was a US citizen thus he has US citizenship via his mother.
Ted’s dad didn’t become a US citizen until 2005. He did have Canadian
citizenship at some point while he was up in Canada.

No, what disqualifies him in my opinion regarding his Canadian citizenship is why he held on to it until he was 42 years old? Why did he think it was of benefit to him?

My son renounced his German citizenship at age 18, as soon as he could legally do it.

There are a lot of things about Cruz that bother me, that’s just one of them.

I understand his flaws and I think I can tolerate his motivations, as coming from a producer— a business minded producer, laser focused and determined to succeed.

I see that he didn’t choose to run on the Democrat ticket and has little respect for the Republicans. I see that in his neighborhood he has and will pay a price for running against all of them. The Northeast is what it is.

Trump has to know the consequences, personal and economic, even for his family, for bucking his pals and the club they run in.

Yes, I expect Trump must and will be running on the fly, until he masters the wonk of policy making, but right now as a builder he relies on what he is good at. He respects a couple of things; one is the foundation— the blocks that must be laid one at a time, (ie., the broad themes for the stupid people); THE ART OF THE DEAL (in order to plunder the corrupt Establishment leadership). Eventually will come the details of the wiring and the plumbing.

I think he telegraphs an end to incompetent placement of incompetent people, to the demoralization of the American worker and the American soldier, determined to retool the country economically and to restore American bravado in foreign policy, and national security.

If not a particularly religious man he recognizes that the freedom to succeed is methodically being eroded and that we are behaving as whipped pups in every aspect of our lives and work. We oppose nothing. We tolerate everything, and he evidently is alarmed at the landscape he sees before us.

He is shockingly ignorant on the tenets of the Christian faith, I grant that, more than a little secular, but it has occurred to me that not always does God use the pious man to bring about his will. Frankly, in this age, if Trump came off as sufficiently pious to suit Christians, he would land in File 13, out of the gate.

Instead, he is reportedly bringing in a cross section of voters who hate the direction our country has gone in and have not quite themselves realized yet that it is Godlessness that has withered our vine.

To win anything will require the votes of the secular American. I live on hope of our Lord, not a man, but being wily is not necessarily a sin to restore the best of your country’s foundations.

All of the candidates have things that will bother us in some way or the other.
You never hear anything about Ted’s half sister that is living. He has one that
died when she was 49. Also you’d think his mother would be more in the picture but
she isn’t. I know she is more reserved but still her son is seeking the presidency.

Trump is not trusted because he is not a politician and because he’s rich already. The brainwashing that “rich is bad” and “ government is benevolent” is working even on the very people who think they are above such things.

So what. He was allowed to keep it. That doesn’t change anything unless you are just looking for a slur to use.

No other candidate makes us want to restore ourselves, regroup, and remember that we are Americans. We deserve to have a leader who delivers OUR message for a change, a message flagrantly absent flattery, pandering, political correctness, and relavitism. We have prayed for such a leader.

Now one comes along who is a force, and because he doesn’t fit the Establishment’s mold for viability, and does not perpetuate the same ole credentials of big me, little you, and the currently accepted give away attitude of our country to her enemies, foreign and domestic, he is declared unsuitable, distasteful, brash, ungentlemanly, a loose cannon, and much worse.

Rita, that was so well said that I hesitate to add anything to it. I'll simply reinforce what you ably stated with a few of my own observations.

Trump is most definitely an unlikely hero, for the very reasons you stated above. Even as late as a few months ago, I would never have picked him as a likely contender for the 2016 Republican nomination. He was completely off my radar and I had no earthly idea that he felt so strongly about choosing such a daunting task at this point in his life.

The fact that he came into the race in the fashion he did, made me sit up and take notice. I reluctantly gave him a fair hearing, and was blown away by what I heard. He was saying the very things that we Freepers have been screaming for years.

But my ears didn't just perk up because of what he was saying - it was also because of who was saying it. Here's a man who has conquered every mountain in his field, and who has become synonymous with winning at the highest levels of business. What could he possibly gain by running for president at this stage of his life?

Taking on the ugly, life draining, gargantuan task of reforming our federal leviathan isn't something that anyone in his shoes would likely do, unless that person had carefully looked over the current state of our country, and had come to the conclusion that this nation will fall to ruin if even ONE more establishment politico is elected as president.

Simple objective reason dictates that this man has chosen to step up to the plate as a citizen whose life and career have uniquely prepared him to take on the task of Commander in Chief at a critical juncture in our country's history.

It sounds melodramatic, but that's exactly what we're witnessing.

Some have bemoaned the fact that, "he's not a conservative", but I dare anyone to read over the key points of his agenda and say that with a straight face. It's also frequently said that "he supported liberal ideas in the past", and I guess that's true. So did I. So did a lot of mugged liberals, and other Americans who've since wised up.

To me, one of the hallmarks of wisdom, is having the ability to constantly observe what's in front of one, then improve upon ones problem solving skills by learning from what one has observed. I think Trump passes the test in that area, and will no doubt pass more as he goes along.

However, Trump's most important attribute is his leadership quotient. It's perhaps the one thing he possesses in spades, that most others in the running can only pretend to. Simply holding elective office doesn't qualify one as a leader. Real leadership has a quality that is at once, recognizable and irrefutable. People know it when they see it - and they respond favorably to any person who has it. Trump is the quintessential BOSS, and everyone who comes in contact with him knows it. That, more than anything else, is what this country needs in our next president.

After seeing a Bill Still piece this morning on Ted Cruz’s wife I don’t believe I can or will support Ted Cruz ever.

I would suggest you see the report and decide for yourselves.
She supports total open borders from Mexico to Canada where people can come and go at will. How does Ted Cruz reconcile that with what he says his beliefs are????
