I think that’s exactly right. I remember listening to a local political call-in show about ten years ago where the topic was immigration. The host was fairly neutral ideologically and would leave it to the callers to battle it out, and battle it out they usually did. But this day it was kind of a dull show because everyone was basically in agreement in opposing uncontrolled immigration.

Thanks guys, I figured I summed it up pretty good. I think I’ll make a separate posting of my point, just to get it into their THICK HEADS, assuming they do actually go to this site. Look for something in 15 minutes or so.

I can spend an hour (or more) parsing just about every line in this piece, but I won’t give that clown the honor of wasting my time. But I will say a couple of things:

1) I, like I suspect most of you people out there, really didn’t give a crap about Trump. We looked at him as a rich person that got off entertaining people on the lower rungs of the economic ladder. When he did get into the race, most of us yawned. THIS IS NOT IDOL WORSHIP.

2) But I, like virtually every person out here (i.e., the ENTIRE Republican base, including people that are still against Trump) did care about Immigration, especially ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. But (other than Cruz) NONE of our candidates seemed to care AT ALL about the issue, and NONE of our candidates (Cruz included) made it the centerpiece of their campaigns. Instead about all we heard were things like “my economic policy will only grow food stamps at 5% per year, not 10% like the president has been doing - therefore I’m a hard-right conservative - vote for me”. But Trump DID ADDRESS IMMIGRATION and that’s when our ears went up...and the other candidates (most of them) still cannot even figure out where they’re permitted to stand on the issue, and yet still get the big checks from Rove’s money-men.

That’s about all I’m going to say - we moved to Trump because Trump, AND TRUMP ONLY, was willing to take on Illegal Immigration HEAD ON, and if Illegal (and to some extent, legal) Immigration is not STOPPED, then our party, and our country is FINISHED. Bottom line, we don’t really care where he stands on food stamps, taxes, funding erotic ‘art’, education, or anything else, because IT WON’T MATTER if the Democrats are allowed to get this country flooded with Illegals that will then vote Democrat. It won’t matter at all.

So I hope YOU IDIOTS at National Review read this, because this is how 80% of the Republican base feels (or at least 80% of this site feels). So tell your Big Money friends that they can spend their money any way they wish, but THEY WILL NOT STOP US from choosing the only candidate who really seems concerned about the long-term survival of this country.

Really good post!

You can stick with your principles and be a loser once again. The people you vote for are not conservatives. Don’t be fooled again.

Thanks, just posted a separate thread based on what I posted here. I expect to see good reviews on it.

I’m not a fan of Donald but he has become popular with voters for a reason this guy Cooke doesn’t even try to identify. The GOP has undermined their constituents in several election primary’s by running a third party candidate to oust the primary winner. Alaska comes to mind. Basically he makes no call to common sense but whines about voters sacrifice of principle when I find myself thinking the Republican party has been sacrificing principle all along everyday. One issue that bothered me is the dynastic element both Bush and Clinton. at least Donald solves that problem for me.

Who remembers the Tea Party candidate to run for Gov. of VA and how the establishment actually helped democrats to take the state rather then a Tea Party person.

They want us to support them but not for them to have to support us.

I will not vote for anyone in the republican party who currently holds office or held office except Cruz. The others can go to hell.

TRUMP/CRUZ 2016

It’s taken Boehner and McConnell a bit longer to do this but they have been successful.

“Election to oppose Obama? What election?”

Look what’s happening in Europe folks....that’s our future. A massive, never ending invasion by tens of millions of people until we are a wasteland. If Trump can help us stop this sickness then he’s worth taking a chance on. BTW I’m a Cruz guy who listened to him the other day on the Howie Carr show in Boston dancing around the HB1 visa situation....he’s pissing me off to be blunt.

First, they discover which candidate most closely agrees with them on policy, and then they ask themselves whether that person is capable of representing their ideas in public. This time around, however, this process has been disastrously inverted, a solid portion of the Republican party’s balloters having decided first who they want to speak on their behalf, and then, as if t’were a mere afterthought, wondered what he might end up saying.

What rubbish...There's no appeal to Trump the man...It's what he says that appeals to us...

We know exactly what we are doing and why we're doing it...

So you should just support Hillary if your true intention is to destroy the republican party.

The Republican Party should be destroyed...It serves no legitimate purpose other than to support the Democrat Party...

I am not making the stand for the last perfect conservative. I will vote for any Republican who wins the nomination, even Trump. I don’t think Trump is the best one to beat the Dem. And if he were to beat the Dem, I think we’d be very disappointed in his rule.

I think you and I think alike here. The most important thing is winning in Nov.

“All that Trump is doing is stealing the support that would have formed around a real conservative.”

No Trump equals getting Jeb Bush, not a real conservative. Figure that out.

Once in a while, it might help to take a full read of the article and see if the author is making any valid points.

It might also be useful to note that folks that are likely to deem this article as something to heed helped give us both terms of Obama - there's always a trade-off....

Sticking too our “Principles” has elected a trible of RINOs and weak livered un-Conservatives. Look what happened to the Tea Party? Look what happened to Ted Cruz, Look how Sarah Palin was treated and dismissed? Time to support the brash un-politician who can upset the old ways and maybe reform a few things. Like Immigration, Tax Code, Maybe even Bring Back Jobs. Why Not? We must change if we are to defeat Hillary and Biden and the Progressive crew. We must let Trumps Karma act to burn out the poison of the RINOs and the MSM. He can not do worse than the clown we have in Office now. He just might be a new Reagan. He’s worth a chance.

I have to accept that this is a distinct possibility. I hope months and months of scrutiny under a magnescope will tell us one way or another. It’s still a long way to 11/2016 so anything could happen. I’m a Cruz supporter and never thought people would dump Cruz for Trump but here we are.

I do enjoy Trump though. I honestly believe if it wasn’t for Trump the slander machine would have focus and destroyed every other true conservative out of the race by now. Instead we are seeing Jeb lose donors who want to dig up the stinking corpse of the Romney campaign.

My hope is that the other Freepers don’t shred each other to pieces so we can unite behind whoever the remaining conservative candidate is and banish the GopE RINOs to the abyss.
