Oh, they even hit an F-22 while taking off. That is certain to rouse the populace.
Well, not the aircraft carrier. At least, not yet.
These weapons are not “operational” in the sense any US or western system would be declared operational.
What you are watching is a video game cinematic.
The actual DF-21D has never...not once...been operationally tested in a full up, live-fire exercise where it is fired out to sea to hit any ship, even not maneuvering, and using its communication and targeting assets. For that matter, it has never been fired out to sea.
The only test it has performed is to fire it out into the Gobi desert to hit a static target painted to look like a carrier.
That could have been done with any number of existing land based systems.
To hit an object like a maneuvering carriers over 1,000 miles off of their coats with a ballistic missile is something they have never proven. Only talked A LOT about in white papers.
It is a classic Sun Tsu effort to use slight of hand and smoke to try and get the US to be afraid to use their massive, overpowering weapons in the form of conventional forces centered around nuclear aircraft carriers.
They have “deployed” numerous vehicles with supposed DF-21D missiles on them...only problem is, the missiles look just like the DF-21 ballistic missile they have with no anti-shipping capability whatsoever.
Never mind the fact that they have not positioned , or demonstrated the actual huge, sophisticated network of recon, surveillance, targeting, reacquisition after re-entry, or maneuvering capabilities/technology necessary for such a weapon.
IF you can convince an opponent not to use their much more powerful weapons, you have as good as defeated that weapon without every firing a shot.
problem is, we have liberal progressives who are filling our command positions with people of their own ilk who are neutering the US edge.
The DF-21D is a Sun Tsu construct, that portends to fire a weapon into the teeth of the most effective anti-missile shield on earth, our AEGIS system, and be so capable as to render that system inert...without their system ever having demonstrated even once that it has any rudimentary capability of doing it.
I could go into all of their technical challenges, which they have never demonstrated having...and I could go into why the AEGIS system would most likely defeat it anyway.
But there is no need. The Chinese are bluffing with that syste,...and it is not even a very good bluff.

Most it I can’t read but the end part cautions viewers that it’d be dangerous to forget the wars of the past and that this year is the 70th anniversary of the defeat of Japan.

Please note that no Chinese army, whether Nationalist forces or those of Mao played any real role in the defeat of Japan —that was the USN and USMC.
It’s like saying the Third Reich fell cuz of the French Resistance.
Some of the systems in there were real —it wouldn’t be a cake-walk for US forces, but I had to smile at some of that.
An important thing not well known is that if China took any of the Senkaku Islands then a lot of people think they’d have to also take the Miyako Islands, which are totally uncontested and feature 50,000 Japanese residents.
They also think that China might well also have to take OKINAWA, so....I think you know what that means...
Meh, anyone can write a video game, and China HAS been caught using brief clips from Top Gun in official PLAN video clips....

So far they are not very convincing.
A few years back (2-3) the USS George Washington Battle Group sailed into the Yellow Sea...within 100 miles of Bejing...and conducted air ops for 2 days.
Not a single Chinese aircraft or ship came out to play.

It's CEP is 90 meters at 6,000 NM.
Oh, and each D5 can carry 12 warheads. And each Trident carries 24 D5's.
And NOT EVEN the US can hit a moving carrier with a ballistic missile.
As Jeff said, it's all bluff and designed for domestic consumption...not unlike what the Norks and Iranians do.
The current CiC (and Nobel Peace Prize winner) will never authorize those Tridents to launch.
He has stated as much several times.
If the US was under a nuke attack anywhere in the world and he refused to authorize, the decision would be take out of his hands immediately.
The Chinese have made huge strides over what they were just 15 years ago.
But they are not ready in the least to square of against the US Navy...or the JMSDF for that matter.
Just the same, inside the 1st island chain they are not to be underestimated.
But, with the DF-21D, that is pure propaganda and Sun Tsu.
They are targeting our political leaders and appointed officials with this DF-21D propaganda program...and I have seen it spouted by high ranking appointed Admirals and other general officers as well.
If they can convince them not to use our assets, then they will severely limit our abilities.
And that is the point...and they have fertile ground in that (as well all well know) with the current POUTS and his admin.
That is wishful thinking. There are “political officers” everywhere within the command structure of our forces now, just like the Soviets and Nazis did in their day.
There has been steady and relentless effort by those running this country to do this.
Any coup attempt would be put down before it got started.
