The News is Propaganda

In his book Abuse of Language, Abuse of Power, the German Catholic philosopher Josef Pieper wrote the following: “That the existential realm of man could be taken over by pseudorealities whose fictitious nature threatens to become indiscernible is truly a depressing thought. And yet, the Platonic nightmare, I hold, possesses an alarming contemporary relevance. For the general public is being reduced to a state where people are not only unable to find out about the truth but also become unable even to search for the truth because they are satisfied with deception and trickery that have determined their convictions, satisfied with a fictitious reality created by design through the abuse of language.”

I like Jim Morrison’s little haiku about that:

“Breakfast where the news is read
Television children fed
Unborn living, living, dead”

What seems to have caused you to excerpt your own blog?

Why do you consider your blog to be “News”.. when it is just your blog?

Good article.

When Obama opens his mouth it is best to think the opposite from what he has just said, that is if you can bear to listen to him at all.

For me his 2012 DNC acceptance speech was a real eye-opener.

He used techniques that in another age would have been called "mind control."

It takes him about 45 minutes to do it right. He sets up a series of images designed for the people to agree with. For example, "The sky is blue" and you shake your head yes. "The grass is green" and you shake your head yes. "The sun is yellow" and you shake your head yes. And then he tells you what he wants you to know, whether or not it makes sense in lieu of the previous comments - "And that is why I need to be your next president."

And all this the nodding people in the audience did not know they had just been played.

And if you asked them later what Obama stands for they will answer: "He needs to be our president" and "He stands for hope."

We have an entire media which uses buzz words to "teach" people what they want them to know.

"Gun Control" and "Climate Change" come to mind.

That is a real lazy way to give people the news - give them buzz words so that the people are forced to fill in the blanks.

So, when Obama calls Assad "the enemy" I tend to think he may not be the enemy.

I do not have a TV but I was in a fast food place last night that had NBC Evening News on. It consisted of 2-3 minutes of headlines with very limited story followed by 5-7 commercials selling prescription medication. What a commentary on who we are. Inane.

That is absolutely true and well put. We’re living in a world of make belief, however reality has a way of ultimately getting its revenge.

I have no doubt that the societies that will dominate the world in the future are those that understand and respect reality. None of the western countries of today do that. I can easily see a Russia and a China become the new superpowers of the world.

“I will pray that you stop living on the street and turn your life around.”

I trust you are teasing.

Not having a TV is a choice. It isn’t as though I am going without sustenance or shelter. In fact, I believe there is nothing to sustain one on TV. In fact, I believe that what i son there will erode one’s character.

I stayed in a motel this spring and went through the hundred plus channels on the satellite and found nothing worth watching. I set the TV to the opera channel on XM and read.

TV is a waste.

First of all I had a mod tell me to post excerpts instead of the entire article (which if you look at my history, I’ve done every single time). I could careless about the whole “clickbait” crap, I dont get paid to write and the only reason I didn’t post the entire article like I have time and time again is due to the mods telling me not to. What else am I supposed to do??
