I had to laugh at the 3-footer. Southland has 5-8 foot diamondbacks.
'Ol Yarddog has a great pic of an eastern diamondback for runs 6+ ft he nabbed in those palmetto bushes!

My college girlfriend's yearbook contained a senior picture that bore this caption:
Herpetologists are just like other people, except they're herpetologists.
I know that's a strange thing to remember.

THE ROUNDUPS OF YORE ARE MOSTLY GONE, BUT SNAKE RUNS ARE ANOTHER WAY TO EXPERIENCE CALIFORNIAS SLITHERERSAn easier way to experience California Slitherers is to go to Sacramento or to Hollyweird where they are on display.

Not a fan. Will kill the timber rattlers and copperheads (NYS ya see). Leave the other slitherers to take care of the rodentia. Actually havent seen many of the venomous ones here. out west while camping across AZ in ‘75 I saw my fill.

The only good snake is a dead snake.

I recall as a high schooler, there was a snake near the superintendents office. He came out where a bunch of us were, and gave us a lesson in how to kill them. Just quickly grab them by their tail and very quickly crack them like a whip.
Instant death!
He was so quick at it the snake never had a chance to react.
