Hurricane Patricia -- the strongest hurricane ever recorded -- weakened slightly as it barreled closer to Mexico's Pacific coast, with sustained winds decreasing to 190 mph and gusts to 235 mph on Friday afternoon, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory.
Residents are bracing for potentially catastrophic 200 mph sustained winds and torrential rains.
The excessive wind speeds, according to the head of the Mexican agency that includes its national weather service, "makes Patricia the most dangerous storm in history."

Just saw a live report from PV, just kind of overcast now. It made landfall a good deal south, and the storm is actually circling around and blowing from the landward side, over the Sierra Madre mountains. The mountains will likely take the brunt of the wind and rain, PV may not get hit that bad.
I pray for them. I suspect a good majority will be in the United States by year’s end. Where else could they go? If they lose everything, they will come here. I just have a feeling.

My girlfriends & I would spend many holiday weekends down in Rosarito Beach. I wasn’t even 18 yet! but was totally different time/place. This was late 80’s/early 90’s. Can’t believe my parents used to let me go down there with just bunch of girls but it was much safer then. We never had any problems & the hotels we stayed in had tons of security. The bars, restaurants hotels etc..relied on the people from Orange County, San Diego as their revenue stream. Good times back then but no way would I let my daughter go down there now, ha!
Well worst storm in 200 years is nothing to sneeze at. Why are you trying to say oh well 500 hundred years ago a storm may have been worse. So what.....200 years is a ton of time to have this be the worst and it is happening now.

I can’t remember exactly where, somewhere between Ignacio and Loreto heading north (Sea of Cortez side for those unfamiliar), you come over the top of a mountain after a long slog through the interior. I was riding with one Of Ivan Stewart’s pit crew trucks at the time and the guys were telling me how blue the water was seen from up there.
When we broke over the top I swear with God as my witness it was an impossible sight. It looked exactly like the heavily colorized TV commercials. Except it was the most REAL eye hurting blue I have ever seen. Just stunningly beautiful.

Mexico is what should concern you. It is going to result in loss of lives big time. Texas will get a little rain.

Ok. Lets think for a minute. In the medieval times, if hurricanes came in at 10 at a time for months, it would not matter one bit since population was sparse in the U.S. If there was flooding, no big deal because nothing is ruined. Today if we have these hurricanes and flooding as bad as they say is coming, that is a HUGE difference then the medieval time. Nobody knows anything about climate. Those on both sides are probably wrong.
I absolutely loved Mexico. However, I was so disappointed on Cinco de Mayo and they didn’t celebrate it.....UGH. I thought I hit the jackpot being in Mexico during that time only to find out that Mexicans tell me it is an American holiday. UGH! I will never forget the look on the face of this nice lady near a bar and me asking if their were any Cinco De Mayo festivities.

Yep. Not good. It does seem everything is falling apart in this part of history. It all started with 9/11. Heck even after December 8, 1941, America was able to get back on track. We should not be doomed but it feels that way in every aspect of America.
The great thing about covering the off-road races was that it was the national sport of Baja. Unofficially though it may have been. The whole peninsula came out and lined the course. You’d see people 50 miles from anything in the middle of nowhere with a tailgate and a case of Tecate.
And the parties were a week long in and out of towns. Complete carnival atmosphere.
While I feel for the folks in Texas (their warm and very wet weather should continue), I hope the pattern holds true and drowns California this year.
That’s all we need. Obama will probably greenlight 60 million Mexican refugees on an emergency basis. Never let a good hurricane go to waste.
With any luck maybe many illegals will move back to Mexico to help with the clean-up and reconstruction.
