Tensions at Yale University hit a boiling point yesterday after an email about Halloween costumes created a week-long controversy on campus.

Students called for the resignation of Associate Master of Silliman College Erika Christakis after she responded to an email from the school’s Intercultural Affairs Council asking students to be thoughtful about the cultural implications of their Halloween costumes. According to The Washington Post, students are also calling for the resignation of her husband, Master of Silliman College, Nicholas Christakis, who defended her statement.

If they had selected those 2000 admissions based on merit, they probably wouldn't be having this problem.

When social engineering is used to convey honor to those who don't deserve it, it's not surprising they think themselves a whole lot better than they are.

It seems that Princeton manages to avoid controversies like this fairly well. Yale always had a reputation for being a bit more dramatic and activist, whereas Princeton is a bit more laid-back overall. Just an observation.

Also, I think many Yale students probably think this whole response is overblown. It’s often the case that the “social justice warriors” who shout the loudest, but they’re not even close to the majority of students there.

Seriously, though, if you fired ALL the liberal dipweeds infesting the ivy plague schools and replaced them with feces-flinging monkeys, wouldn’t the world be a better place?

My response to the students; “You mad, bro? Problems?”

Honestly, I’m ready for the Chinese to take over. They don’t tolerate deadwood.

The Leftist think their RIGHTS TRUMP everyone else.

Whatever happened to live free and let other live free. Oh no they want to force everyone to submit, like slaves, to their own personal Will.

Someone needs to tell them to get over it or leave.

BKMK for excellent Atlantic article linked in this article.

Atlantic article is here:

Everyone concerned about the increasing madness of the young, particularly at college, should read that.

If they did it on merit and pure numbers, 50% of the class would be Chinese. No one is ready and wanting that.

“Does anybody know of a community organizer/agitator who has nationwide influence?”

I had this crazy nightmare where some community organizer who had no experience running anything was elected President. And then he was re-elected! And he was so influential that he not only messed up America, he also rekindled or started wars in the Middle East, gave guns to Mexican drug lords and helped make it easier for the Iranians to get nuclear weapons. And get this - the community organizer was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize! I know it had to be a crazy dream, right?

I think the answer is more in the area of who is teaching in private schools and those public schools in good neighborhoods. as bad as public schools in the low income areas are you have to be a tough cookie if you go to one able to handle getting your feelings hurt. this crap is coming from the top universities that get most of there students from private schools and public schools in wealthy neighborhoods.

The New McCarthyism is from the left...

The "old" McCarthyism was also from the Left and it was directed at the senator, not vice versa.

Not by a long shot. But it doesn’t need to be. The behavior being exhibited should have been corrected before junior high school. The country is turning into a bunch of spoiled brats and they need to be called on their failure to be able live in the real world.

Try this crap on my production line and you will be in your exit interview with human resources 2 minutes after I suspend your worthless ass.

Yes, they have a high opinion of themselves. Not very sure that it is justified.

Regarding coordinated effort ....

20+ years ago during undergrad I had a conversation with some fellow Conservatives on how we could undermine the PC cr*p thatveas being forcefully shoved down our throats.

Our conclusion was that fighting from a Conservative perspective was a sure loser. It would be a war of attrition and the Left had proven that it had much better staying power.

Our thought was to go the Cultural Revolution route and provoke the Liberal students to see the Liberal professors as being too Conservative and not PC enough, and turn on them. Let the Left eat itself, which would have good entertainment value, but also be ready to step into the vacuum when they’d spent themselves.

Sometimes I wonder if thats what happening here. Not from a political/ideological perspective but rather 4chan types agitatng something just to see who pops.

So glad Greg Lukianoff of FIRE was on campus to film this, because that professor will need an attorney. I bet Yale Admin will throw him under the bus.. Those young women were screaming and shrieking. There were no men there. THe liberal prof let himself be sucked into a ‘discussion’ - but all they wanted was an apology. If the Prez of Yale allows this without setting boundaries, HE is part of the problem.

I would NEVER EVER send my kid to those universities. Ours went to a local tech/ state university, got a great job. His wife left college after 2 years of professorial-shenanigans, did NOT get brain-washed, and is a perfectly normal young woman.
