Have you not heard of Bra Thor, Vince Flynn, or Tom Clancy?

The Flynn and Clancy, yes. I don't think they are quite the same thing though. I mean, even "The Best Years of Our Lives" was subtly anti-war. It's like there's a different formula between what we might consider "anti-war" and "pro-war".

The protagonists in the "anti" column are thoughtful, reluctant, dare I say "sensitive" to the posititions of the enemy. "Pro" are basically cartoonish or caricatures of what a conservative warrior.

Going back to my original post and my follow up, makes me think it's not a period thing. I think it's almost a brainwashing things. I'm not sure if I'm presenting my point correctly.

Let’s not forget W.E.B Griffin,he has written at least 50 novels on war and secret agent stuff...all pretty good stuff.
