The plane was last flown in 1990 and has spent the past 22 years in storage

They were introduced by the RAF in 1969 and used until the end of 2011

USN was flying the AV-8b off the USS Tarawa (LHA-1) in 1981.

Thy are still effective air support for men on the ground, but not classic "attack" aircraft like the A-4, A-6, FA-18.

Insufficient load and range for that role.

It's more like an AH-64 Apache that carries a couple of bombs.

And Marines love 'em.
