vanity, question on excel

I need an excell guru

There is a formatting within excell to have either rows or columns locked in place, but all remaining columns to the right, or rows below, scrollable

I am trying to lock a sheet with the first 5 columns locked, and all columsn to the right scrollable to enter data

I took excel years ago, have only seen this a few times, no one really needs it where I work

what is this called and how do I do it?

I have EXCEL 2007

Freeze Panes.

It’s part of the View tab.

It’s called “freeze panes”. I’m not sure about that version, but that should get you started.

This is something that professionals could use and don’t. Whenever there are tables/columns that go to another page, the column headings are lost and one has to keep scrolling back up to see what the columns represent. Never could understand why they don’t freeze the panes. Although until a poster replied with the answer you were looking for, I couldn’t think of it....It’s never done on congressional vote tallies or anything the government produces. Bunch of ignoramuses...

DOn’t feel bad about having to ask, I have to ask the same questions about Quick Books over and over and over.

God help me if I ever become a Quick Books “expert” because that will mean I’ve lost my mind!

I’ve been working with Excel over 20 years, and come up with a new question, every month.

You should write a macro to do it.

Ha ha. Just kidding. I’ve had to look that up too.
