“”I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;””

The oath the president takes...he has violated this oath so many times, we have lost count. His buddies qualify as both foreign and domestic. Can any democrat look any of us in the eye and swear that the man is fulfilling his responsibility and obligation to us and the U. S. Constitution?

“”It was not instituted to provide income for you in your old age.””

True before the 1937 FICA law was passed....

An act which was blatantly unconstitutional.

“I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.”

— James Madison, the father of the U.S. Constitution

The main confusion is the modern attempt to reinterpret scripture in order to bring it in line with the gospel according to Saint Abraham. Onesimus was Philemon’s slave. He had run away and was with Paul. Paul didn’t tell Onesimus “good for you” and he didn’t tell Philemon that he was an evil slaveholder who needed to free Onesimus. Instead Paul told Onesimus to return to Philemon. This makes plenty of modern Christians uncomfortable so we get these convoluted attempts to explain that slavery away as “indentured servitude”.

Also quoted by Davy Crockett when he was in Congress and objected to a bill to provide $$$ to care for victims of a fire or whatever - I’ve forgotten just what the event was.
Don’t make them like this anymore...

“”http://www.neusysinc.com/columnarchive/colm0009.html”";

Perhaps my memory is faulty as it seems he did not QUOTE that line but he was reminded when the bill came up that he or anyone else would be free to donate their own money - (it was for victims of a fire) but not their constituents money.....They say Crockett never forgot it...

Paul merely told Philemon to treat the slave as a brother. Many slaves were freed by the Romans. Slaves often lived better then free men in biblical times. Slaves were very common back then, The Romans had many slaves also.

Mostly true. I do know what I learned in high school social studies classes (late 70s and early 80s) and what I taught in my social studies classes in the late 80s/early 90s and again in the mid 2000s and again a few years ago. I haven’t taught social studies in a few years but I know the curriculum has changed drastically! from elementary to high school.

The last time I taught Social Studies, 2010 school year, the curriculum was still such that 7th grade was US history/The Constitution...We spent tons of time on the Constitution. The Curriculum changed and now 6 and 7 grade is primarily World Cultures with 7th grade being religions...mostly Islam. 8th grade is the American Revolution/Civil War mostly. Common Core also changed things in Elementary and Middle School education.

High school is still mostly U.S. History (here anyway). That’s changing too just not as quickly.

Another thing...now every class is discussing “current events” and I teach two classes and aide for four...so I was told to discuss the Paris terrorism in my 8th grade high school Algebra Class and 7th grade accelerated pre algebra class...um no. We do math in my math classes. I leave the other stuff to the other classes. But, my students wanted to talk about it. I bit my tongue as much as I’m capable, lol. Surprisingly, the kids were spot on in their concerns, fears, opinions, facts, etc.

As an aside, concerning federal funds that you mentioned, yes our classes have discussed this too when it pertains to school funding/class attendance. At least these kids are getting it that it’s not about them, the Union isn’t about them, the Teachers somewhat aren’t about them, the School Board isn’t about them, the Admin isn’t about them...it’s all about the funding.

Islam and Paris Terrorism...my youngest daughter (who is my clone and who I worry about constantly) proved she does listen and learned some lessons we taught her. Last week, every single class (except her Calculus class, Genetics class and Accounting class...hmmm) made a week long discussion/writing assignment about the Paris Terrorism/Islam/Multi Culturalism/Syrian Refugees (mostly)/immigration issues. English, Sociology, Health, Marketing and Sales, World Cultures (which is an elective too)and music appreciation (yep) all focused the lessons on the Syrian Refugee issue/Paris Terrorism.

She was called out in her marketing class, sociology class, health class....what does this have to do with marketing and health? I can see sociology, lol. She was called out in her classes in regards to race relations (re blacks)...and Islam...she gave a scathing speech and wrote a scathing essay on the hypocrisy of the separation of Islam and FGM concerning how the teachers were hypocrits for refusing to acknowledge that FGM is a part of Islam and how can they support Islam yet fight against FGM when it’s a part of the religion of Islam...How can they say Islam is ok when they fight against just about every tenet of the religion. How can they say we should accept Syrian Refugees when most are NOT orphans and widows but young, strong men.

She called them(the teachers, admin, government) hypocrites numerous times. I was impressed and proud.
